I just bought every non cuban cigar rated rated above 90 in Cigar Aficionado last week. I bought two of each plus a box of Olivia G Cameroon Robustos and CAO Brazilia Gol!'s and some 1926 Padron Torpedoes.

It may seem excessive, but I have a few hundred cigars on hand in humidors at all times, yet I only smoke about 3 a month, I try and keep it top notch.

I've had the Macunudo's and they are getting good again, for a few years they bit. They were just rated 90+ too.

Stogies are fucking great!

i think he has a fine cigar in our room somewhere that he's not likely to smoke.

Wow - you must be the ambassador to flavor country.

I used to smoke the odd cigar, but nothing too expensive. Personally, the more I paid the less I liked it. Maybe that means I have bad taste, but I can live with that so long as my mouth doesn't taste like an elephant sat on it.

The embargo is so stupid. Cuba's no threat to us now and opening them up to capitalism is a good thing, look what happened to China. An interesting footnote in our embargo against Cuba is that President John F. Kennedy sent his press secretary, Pierre Salinger, out to buy a stockpile of Cuban cigars the night before he signed the Cuban embargo into law.

Something that isn’t usually mentioned is that Kennedy originally planned that the embargo would not include Cuban cigars. In an interview with the New York Times in 2000, Richard Goodwin, who had been an assistant to Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, revealed that JFK told him in early 1962 that “We tried to exempt cigars, but the cigar manufacturers in Tampa objected. I guess we’re out of luck.”

Here's the whole story.

I've only had cheap 3-dollar ones that tasted like vanilla. They weren't too bad. I hate the big fat stinky cigars that smell like ass and some jerk always whips out during happy hour in DC to fill the whole restaurant full of smoke and I gotta leave because I can tolerate cigarettes for about 20 minutes or so but with fat stogies I gotta leave cuz my eyes start to water.

But um, yeah. Cigars when drinking on vacation. (y)

Lately I've been drinking scotch and cream soda when I smoke. I would highly reccomend it. It doesn't matter which brand, it is just great. A nice dessert drink.

Dominican Cohibas being sold for $25 is a crock of shit when you can buy actual Cuban Cohibas anywhere outside of the u.s. for 6 bucks a piece.

I'm not surprised. Actually I've heard from many a old folk that told me that the quality of Cuban cigars have gone down considerably since the old days. I still want one though, shit.(y)

If you ever can get a Cuban, the best are either Cohibas, Monte Cristo or Punch Royale.

No I usually am not that compulsive, this was a big check and I wanted to store some away, I am a freak about aging and keeping them at 68-70% humidity for at least 6 months. I also know of a few great bargain cigars, Flor de Olivas are excellent at less than $1.50 ea and the Oliva G Cameroons come in at just slightly over $2 a stick. Olivas G's were just rated 91 by CA, and they deserve it, XLNT. Better that many top notch Cubans. But I will say I've still never met the domestic equivalent to a fine rolled Cuban, say a Partagas, Bolivar, St. Luis Rey or Cohiba and many more, but many domestics are fantastic.

About 3 years ago I decided to buy a humidor and store a box or two and the next thing you know I've got a collection.

I admit spent I almost $300, but honestly I have a few hundred always ready to go. I do not reccomend cigar smoking to anyone, it is a stinky habit but Damn when you get a good one lit up it is going to can change the whole character of the day.

The internet has made buying quality cigars a snap, research and web based cigar shops combined with $5 freight a person can save up to $100 a box on higher quality cigars.

I don't smoke at my house, at work we have a well ventilated shop and many supply and exhaust fans, usually after a week of busting ass we'll break out our cigars and kick back. It's great. In Seattle you will be hung from the Space Needle if you smoke, the outlying indian casinos let you smoke cigars some even insist you sit in the bar and enjoy free drinks while you smoke them.

Here is the highest rated non-Cuban cigar according to Cigar Aficionado. I paid that price for two last week and researched the net and found them at half the price. I haven't smoked them yet, but if they are as good as the rating I will buy a box and let them set.

La Aurora Preferidos Robusto rated 93

Country: Dominican Republic
Filler: Dom. Rep.
Score: 93
Source: Cigar Aficionado
Binder: Dom. Rep.
Wrapper: Cameroon Issue: Apr, 2006
Price: $10.00

This oily, toothy cigar gives off a rich aroma. It loads the palate with sweet wood and cream. The finish resonates with cocoa and spice. Balanced and elegant.

Size: Robusto
Ring Gauge: 50
Length: 5"

Made By: La Aurora S.A.
Distributed By: Miami Cigar & Co.

and I always think of Mr. George Burns whilst puffing on a nice cigar...

-Sex at age 90 is like trying to shoot pool with a rope.

-Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

-It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth

-I'm at the age now where just putting my cigar in its holder is a thrill.

-When I was a boy the Dead Sea was only sick.
