Charlie Rich

I love this! This is probably one of the more underrated artists to get their start on Sun Records (everyone talks about Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, etc. but I don't hear Charlie Rich mentioned as often).

The guy is a pretty mult-faceted country singer: he does jazz, blues, rockabilly, gospel and soul. So he ain't easy to pigeonhole and that's how I likes it. :)

Throughout the 1970s, my dad was mistaken for Charlie Rich on a regular basis. Dad was a salesman, and mom and I used to travel with him. Women all over the midwest would wet themselves when they would run into him at a Ramada Hotel. Dad used to wear a powder blue leisure suit sometimes. That helped.

I kept all my dad's Charlie Rich vinyl because of the cover photos.
