Report from "Beastie Boys" in Chile

The first thing i want to say is: Awesome!!! :eek:

What a show!!! The Beasties put a lof of energy on it. They arrived from Argentina early in the morning so i guess the're a bit tired but anyway the show was amazing. It was my first experience watching the Beastie Boys and it was a breakground spectacle, but shorter, for me and the other 15.000 ppl. 1:15 is not enough for a Beastie fan :mad:

On the other hand, the setlist was double (or triple) amazing. See...

- Mixmaster Mike Intro (first he put "Tom Sawyer" from Rush and played with it, and later start the classic intro all we know very well)
- Sure Shot
- Root Down
- Shake Your Rump
- Time to get ill
- Triple Trouble
- Pass The Mic
- Egg man (at the end of this track Mike put the music from "We got the" and the Beasties flow on it... great!)
- Barry White interlude (Mike and the Boys kidding with a member of the staff)
- Body Movin'
- Flute Loop
- Super Disco Breakin
- Posse In Effect (!!!! i never expected this track!!!)
- Slow and low (!!!! again!!!)
- No Sleep Till Brooklyn (!!!! woooooowwww!!! 3rd strike!!!)
- Brass Monkey
- Ch-check it out
- So what'cha want
- Three Mc's and one Dj
---- little break on the show
- Intergalactic
- Gratitude
- Sabotage

What i miss: i just wonder before the show if Mike will do something with "Los Angeles Negros". This was a very famous chileand band from the 60's and the Beasties put a sample of them at the end of "The Move" from "Hello Nasty" (the sample said "Hubo una vez un gran rey/que tenia muchas tierras un castillo y también un amor/). Well, i was just expecting that, but never happened :p

Anyway it was a GREAT GREAT show and the Beasties said that they will came soon (their last visit was on 1995). So i expect the next one will be a longer concert and with the same, unique and AWESOME energy that only the Beasties can give.

I expect to put some pictures later, im too lazy now :D

But I can imagine the energy you felt. I felt it last tuesday here in Curitiba.

I have some pictures, but they look kinda crappy =S. I was really really close to the stage but in the pictures the boys look far from where I was.

It was fun when some people in the crowd star throwing those shining bracelets and they call that big security dude:D

i also went to the Santiago show, and I'm still disappointed with the sound, it was awful! and the other thing is that I missed more "live" songs... they only played gratitude and sabotage...

The also show was too short and the Beasties look a little tired (they played the day after in Buenos Aires....)

But anyway, it was a great playlist but I still have a bitter taste because of the sound and this feeling gets stronger when I think that this is their last show in Chile (or maybe they'll came to play at their mid 50's).

So as an open letter to the Adams and Mikes, ..... Please Come Again Soon to Santiago!!! Please take away this bitter taste.

i was there and i still have some difficulties to recover from yesterday :) ....it was great!! yes, too short the show, but the three nuts over the stage has a fuckin`great power and they pushed over 10000 crazy chileans jumping all the time.....i missed some songs, but well, just to hear opening the show with Sure Shot....WOW!!!! i jumped and sung like a kid....just i did it on 1995....

all the press here says that the band show WHY they are so great, `cause they made an incredible show with only the 3 of them and the magician Mike....only 4 people , with no instruments, made 10.000 fans go insane....

the sound was poor and it was funny how the crowd throw to the stage this plastic and brilliant brazalets ( given from a credit card sponsor) and well, they were harmless, so the musicians tried to catch them all the time....only Mike D was close to get one...but he failed je je je....

hope the guys from the band had the same fun that we have as the fans yesterday.......

but if you force me to choose a show....ì think i choose the 1995 show....man, that was INSANE.......on that time, the B.Boys were so shocked with the crowd energy, that after the show Mike D went to the street, by himself, to continue the party with the chileans fans......but some people of the security team "rescued" him...ja ja ja.........and also, during the show, Ad Rock jumped into the crowd....and he can`t return.....some guards had to get into the people and saved him....and if you think Ad get mad about that? no way, he jumped back, excited and fuckin crazy!!!

espacio riesco is not a really good place to do this kind of show, the sound is not that nice.

I think they should reconsider taking another 10 years to come to south america, if after ten years they still have some hardcore fans around here, they should think about that and after they finish their new album, they have to come back with their own show again.

i dont think i can agree on what you say of espacio riesco because last thursday, Daft punk sounded really, but really good (and Dj Shadow too). Its so damn pitiful cause where have to wait for at least 5 years, i guess, for the boys to be back in Chile.
