so i got it cuz i actually like some of her songs even though her lyrics aren't that great
and i actually think its pretty good, not great just alright more of a songs-u-would-play-at-a-party-album?
the remix of "love me or hate me" with missy elliot & sov is pretty nice
i'd give it 3 stars considering what other albums are out right now, we're obviously not in the golden age anymore :(
its not so fuckin awesome! but the beats are pretty good (imo)

well pretty much almost all the songs on her last EP are on this one
1. 9 to 5
2. Gatheration
3. Random
4. Public Warning
5. Love Me or Hate Me
6. My England
7. Tango
8. A Little bit of Shhh
9. Hoodie
10. Those were the Days
11. Blah Blah
12. Fiddle with the Volume

i simply cannot understand why anyone would like lady sovereign. she sounds awful, she looks awful, did i mention she sounds awful?
she has absolutely nothing going for her.
shes raps about having hairy armpits for chrissakes!!!! FUCKING GROSS
how on earth did her shit get on the radio??? when there are sooo many talented acts out there that need exposure.....

Im not saying her music is total crap, but as far as personality goes I just want to punch her semi-retarded face in when I see it on TV
ggirlballa
11-07-2006, 01:46 AM
i like her personality so do my friends they say that it seems that she just lives her life having fun.
& yes i know that there are better rappers & yes the hairy armpit ryhmes are weird but she also does have better ryhmes that show off that she does have talent (maybe not as much as others but she' isn't talentless) & her music isn't that bad i'm a tough critic & i even gave her some slack for the fun raps
also on another note about the album it was produced by her & Dr.Luke, Basement Jaxx, Menta & Medasyn but she is listed as the Excecutive Producer
No Ad-Rock songs on it but she does thank an "Adam" might be adrock i doubt it though, also she thanks Jay-Z & LA Reid & others
I'll take MIA plz. Her new shit is pretty insane. And without all of this militant stuff, like everyone was shitting on her for only.

i love lady sovereign, i believe i enjoy her "gimmick", that being her accent and her look.
never seen an interview
she has a very expressive face! i love watching her filmclips

11-07-2006, 10:53 AM
Ive only seen 3 or so interviews and in them she appears to not even be listening to the interviewer or perhaps cannot understand english because she kept having to say "whaaauuuttt??" after every. fucking. question.
most annoying shit I havent ever viewed in my life

I would rather listen to Lady Sovereign over any other weak ass UK mc Ive ever heard.
Both her and MIA are fairly obnoxious, as far as Im concerned. MIA has Diplo production going for her though.

yes.
also I haven't heard too many Lady Sovereign so I guess I cannot really say. Nothing has blown me away though, what I did hear was just okay or dismissable.

i saw her at reading and she was brilliant. she's about 5 feet tall and had the whole crowd in her hands.
i don't know much about her lyrics, but a song about shaving your armpits sounds brilliant to me. (y)

i dont mind lady sov, she usually has some pretty good production behind her.
also, i think the mia comparison is unnecessary.

maybe it's a british thing. I remember when the streets first started to blow up in the states and americans complaining they didn't have a clue what he was talking about, and it's probably the same with lady sov (although i haven't actually heard any of her stuff). The record companies wouldn't have expected to do anything in the states so the records are very very british.

:D
Americans are stupid. The Streets is cool. The accent puts off a lot of people but it's foolish to think he'd be mainstream. At least at first.
Lady is on such a big label... too bad half of the songs on the album are "old". And not very good..

i'm sure a lot of americans get the streets i think they were just suprised, a lot of talk about his flow or the lack of it and it was never really about that. He did very well over here commercially, at least the first two albums not sure how the last one did sales wise.

Just discovered that tight shit. I'm amazed. Apart from the woman from Cranberries - she's the only female voice I respect.
Missy Elslut - you learn from that girl! She's got talent and I hear she's at DefJam!

Lady Sovereign pretty much undoes all the good that's come out of UK hip-hop in the last few years.

uk hip hop = worthless
I don't get this... kids in America accept wack as fuck fake gangsta songs from idiots just cuz they're black and American, but when someone real who is English comes out with some proper street hip-hop, these same American suburban kids think its worthless. I don't understand it, how MC's take this rap game for granted.
The Notorious LOL
02-07-2007, 12:57 PM
its because England is a pretty gay country. Same rules apply for Canadian MCs.
that and the accent. Jesus.
I got this cd for Xmas and finally listened to it starting a month ago. I liked her EP, but hadn't been in the mood to listen to it until recently. I was in a party mood and was looking forward to a night out, so it was a good cd to pop in.
there's a lot of repetitive words used throughout and constant name dropping of her own name, but if you just want mindless music to be silly to, this is it.
I think its actually the opposite, I think she sucks personally and if she was from Amercia she would be a joke.
Exactly, that's why I'm rarely seen in threads concerning rap artists. I cannot stand 99.8% of them. "But he's got dope beats!" I don't fucking care. I haven't heard anything from Lady Sov, but from opinions of those I respect here and personal friends of mine are alike, which leads me to believe that the only reason she landed a contract with Def Jam is because she's white, English, and isn't too hard on the eyes.

I prefer 90% of british culture over american culture. I always wanted to live in the UK growing up. most of my favorite musicians are british... but I just... can't stand uk hip hop. I don't think british accents sound good when rapping (not counting slick rick), which probably makes me an ass. I've heard some uk rap that has been alright, but I find groups like the streets intolerable. that's not rap, that shit's talking. Additionally, and I'm saying this only because you quoted my post, but I don't listen to any "wack as fuck fake gangsta songs." I'm sure the street-hop from the UK is authentic, but for some reason it's just not palatable for most folks outside of that area. For me personally, I don't like listening to british rappers because i can't understand a word they say, it sounds like they're rapping with a jawbreaker in their mouth. that's a pretty offensive thing to say, but I'm just being honest and trying to give an authentic answer.
