View Full Version : Election 2006: Semi-hell or total hell, you Choose

Lets face it folks, no matter what happens today Bush, cheney and rumsfield is still at the top. So it can't be all fixed after today.
BUT
Please, please go out and vote, hopefully for your own reasons. If you don't have any reason to vote, go out and vote to make the GOP's life a miserable hell for the next 2 years! PLEASE!
Oh please let this be a "semi" happy day!:)
I read in the local paper that only 25% of Texans voted in the last non-Presidential election. America fights wars to get a democratic system in power in countries (Iraq for instance).......and WE don't vote. I went this morning to vote and it was like a ghosttown. Yesterday, I was looking on the internet to find information on candidates. The local paper didn't even have any information on the local races. It is a bad joke.
I am betting that over 50% of our country could not even tell you who our Vice President is or what the roll of Congress or the Senate is in our governmental process. Election day always makes me a bit sad.

I sent my absentee ballot off a week ago. Oh but I mostly voted republican sorry to disappoint you…

I vote on the issues. Sometimes, I vote Republican if the candidate is clearly a good choice over the Democrat. It is very rare that I vote Republican..... you have a better chance of getting change for a $3 bill than seeing me pull the lever for a Republican.
I am not disappointed in your choices. There is a reason that Bush is in power and the Republicans have the majority in Congress. The Republicans get out and vote.

I voted a week ago, too. I've never missed an election since I was of legal voting age. Unfortunately, only one of my presidential candidates has won in all my years of voting -- luckily, he won twice.
Republicans used to stand for acting as the world's ideology police which led to increased military spending, gutting of social programs, and record deficits. While Dems stood for more of a hands off approach funded by increased corporate taxes, social equity, and the United States of America's most prosperous economic times.
Now, I'm not so biased. ;)

I can't find my voter registration card. :(
also, I don't trust any of the candidates up for election. except for maybe Tammy Duckworth because she lost her legs while serving in Iraq, but doesn't use it as a means to get more votes. I watched some debates for other candidates and I really hate everyone. I figure Tammy's gonna win anyhow, since Barack Obama supports her and the other dude is a creepy conservative.
our governer kinda sucks, but I certainly don't want that Judy Baar Topinka. she's a filthy whore.
so, yeah. no voting today. *ducks*

I think whether or not you like any of the candidates, the lesser of two evils would be better than not voting at all. Mainly because if you let it go, the worse of the two may get elected, then the larger/worse of the two shirtstorms starts.
It's far better to be proactive than reactive.
people like me shouldn't be allowed to vote. i voted o'malley (http://curiouslee.typepad.com/weblog/images/cianna_meets_omalley.jpg) because he's hott.
oh and also, they didn't even ask me for my ID or anything! i just told them my name and street address and they were like K HERE YA GO HAPPY VOTING!

oh. well, I get confused in Illinois. I feel like last time I needed the card.
shit. well, I should probs vote then.
yeah i mean, i guess it's ok that you dont need to have your voters card. but like, i have a feeling my boyfriend could have gone in there and been like I'M [MY NAME AND ADDRESS] and they would have let him vote as me.

the little old ladies at my polling place were complaining to each other how they were only getting 20 people an hour on their side. it was pretty sad. NOBODY was there. :(

Yes, he is! I love the commercials where he's in a t-shirt pretending to work with Habitat for Humanity... hubba hubba.
HOWEVER by the time I got to the polls, they were all out of the "I Voted Today" stickers. What's up with that, that's the best part???

lots of major congressional races are up, and it appears that lots of new faces are going to make it in
Yeti, did you vote for Kinky Friedman?
Yep, I voted for Kinky but he only got about 14% of the vote. Surprise Surprise Perry is Governor again. A blue blood Republican Governor of Texas...Kinky would have been so much more fun.
...and Tracky.....we are voting for the Senate and House of Representatives. Also, we are voting on local and state issues, some Governor races, city ordinances, etc. It sounds like the Democrats are doing well although I was hoping for a sweeping change. That is the social liberal in me talking.

the incumbent governer won. he's a huge dork. I could barely stand his victory speech. if he said "hard work" one more time, I was going to vomit. although there was one particularly excited man in the audience who kept yelling louder than everyone else, saying, "NICE! NICE! YEAH! NICE!" and when ol' Rod started talking about his family, the man yelled, "YOU GOTTA NICE FAMILY! YEAH! NICE!" and I LOL'd.

Today, I pushed a touch tone screen. I have used the infamous punch ballots that result in the hanging chads, the lever ballots where you push a small lever down and when finished lift a large handle and the curtain opens and now the computer touch tone voting machine.
I am not quite old enough to have voted with a written ballot.

both of my roommates are republicans (dont ask me how i ended up in here)
and it looks like they are mad that our governor retained and we swapped a senator and what appears to be several seats in the house
so i am enjoying this mostly just becuase they will be all mad and i can just smile. and then point and laugh at my roommates picture with santorum.

i was asked several questions after i voted by an AP reporter. he had one issue that was important to him (whether the polling people actually took and looked at my photo ID) and then asked what brought me out to vote (i always vote) and whether there was anything particularly important to me (the judicial elections were one thing i had a strong interest in). he took my name, but i don't think it'll appear anywhere.

I've lived in Pa for less than one year and still have been able to see that santorium is nothing but a scumbag.
I have enjoyed listening to Casey, especially the debates where he was so nonchalant about things. It was so funny.

in australia, it is compulsory to vote. if you dont, u cop a big fat fine.
do you think thats a good thing or a bad thing?
we still vote on paper ballots. alot safer that way.
i wouldnt trust electronic ballots. why would you? they are screaming to be tampered with.
shit, i follow US politics fairly closely.
yeeha, the dems get control of the house of reps!!! thank fucking christ.
this opens things up, the dems can have endless enquiries about the war, cabinet spending, anything you like and bush cant do a god damn thing.
hopefully the senate goes the dems way too. i'd love to see bush's retard bewildered face right now (y)

You'll be able to see bush's bewildered face on tv today:...1:00 pm EST.....
Also, there were problems with the electronic ballots (once again) and there may be a recount in Virginia(lets hope not). They also ran out of ballots in one state (forget which one). There is also an FBI investigation going on regarding "voting intimidation" in Virginia.

Can't wait for the News conference! I wonder if it'll be along the lines of "I welcome our new members of the senate and house and hope to get a lot done," or if it'll be "*Ahem*....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OHHHHHHH GOD! OHHHHHH GODDDD! WHY JESUS? WHY THE DEMOCRATS? WHY DO YOU SMITE ME? STUPID, STUPID, STUPID STUPID (at this point he'd be bashing his head on the podium) STUPID, STUPID! EVERYONE OUT, PARTY'S OVER!" and then he'd kick all the reporters out and go drink himself stupid in the Oval Office.

Hey I only say that cus I met him when I was in Korea and he was very cool. He wasn't like most political types I had come across before. He was very genuine, sincere, and "real". I felt very comfortable having a normal conversation with him...plus he's short like me

FUCK YEAH, KATE! BROWN IS HOT TOO! I bet he got the housewife vote.
But my friend and I were talking to O'Malley and we were like "Can we get a photo of you doing the thumbs up like the Fonz?" and he was all "Heck yes you can!" And he was all "EEYYYYY!" and it's the most hottest picture ever.
