The Notorious LOL

On November 6th, 2006 I noticed a fradulent transaction on my account for $80.85. The transaction was made to an online shoestore whom I have never shopped with or heard of. I called the company regarding the transaction and was told to call my bank regarding the account. I called TCF customer service within minutes of seeing the transaction and was told my card would be cancelled out.
On November 8th, my card was yet again hit with over $1400 in fradulent transactions. I called back regarding the account and the representative told me that the transactions may have been from a few days prior and took time to post. VISA verified this statement was false, and the transactions went thru that morning. The representative whom was requested to cancel the account did not do as asked, and because of that I am now $1400 short.
When I called in and spoke to a representative, they advised the procedure for investigation would take 7 to 10 business days, so in the interim I am left flat broke jumping thru hoops regarding an investigation which would not have happened to begin with had the initial representative done his job. Regardless of this fact, they are unwilling to accept any responsibility for wrongdoing and are essentially treating me like a number. Most people live paycheck to paycheck and cant afford to live when their account has a large withdrawl like this made yet NO effort is being made by them to expedite this or correct it.
I strongly encourage anyone who reads this who banks with TCF Bank or knows anyone who does to close out your account and seek out banking thru a credit union or otherwise. TCF operates in Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Indiana so if you know anyone who has them, pass this along.
