Do you think the boys will unveil some new stuff in Oz? I would have to assume that they soon will be getting back to work finishing off the new album.

They want to finish all their new stuff before performing any new song live, no preview in any festival or something like that.

Yeah they've never unveiled new material at a concert, so why would they now?
:D
I don't care either way, though.

That's it That's All was performed at the TFC in Taiwan, the JMJ show, and Coachella all back in 2003.
If they're really working on new material then I wouldn't be surprised if they tried something new in Oz. *holds breath*

As far as new material...they could try out some silk/polyester combos. Or perhaps even something in a mesh.

I can be wrong but I think their setlist will be almost the same than the South American shows. I mean, they'll also play at a Festival in Australia. Unless they'll have more time to play I believe the setlist wont change for those shows.

True. Although I should ask for too much. At the Melbourne side show I was at in 04. I wanted ALive to be performed SOOOOOOO much. Then the beat came on an I was like. "nuh, this is bullshit". Happiest K-I-D ever. But yeah Again would be quite insane (y)

It's odd that they think people may dislike it...I wonder how drastic of a change this new music is for them? I associate them with changes, so this new material must be way out there. Anyway, it's exciting...

From http://www.theage.com.au/news/music/beastie-boys-ready-for-fan-anger/2007/01/22/1169330824017.html
American hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys are prepared for a backlash from Australian fans when they test out some new tracks at the Good Vibrations Festival next month.
The New York rappers are recording their seventh album and may sample some new works when they headline the festival.
However, co-founder and vocalist Mike Diamond was careful not to reveal too much about the latest project.
"It is actually really different ... (fans) can expect to be disappointed, they can expect to be angry at us," the 41-year-old joked from his home in New York.
"It's always hard to know (how the album will turn out). We still have a little of a way to go. I don't want to describe it too much because whatever I say might change.
"We are in the middle of recording it ... we are pretty excited (about coming to Australia)."
That sounds exciting. The Australians are lucky to be able to hear new material next month. Make sure you tell us all about it, guys.

Another Yauch phone interview I just read had him quoted as saying that he's been listening to a lot of music from 30 years ago. I want to go out on a limb (and I hate when people do this) and say it would be great if it sounded like sludgy Sabbath-style metal. But not totally like that, you know? And not a shit Wolfmother sound.
I only speculate because them listening to lots of soul and funk records (and Low End Theory) inspired the sounds of Check Your Head.

I can't imagine them trying out new stuff at a festival. I can see another band doing it, but not Beasties. At small gigs, you get some unusual stuff. At festivals, you get a shorter set of all the hits--the crowd pleasers. But then the Australian crowds were far more interested in TT5B than the crowds were in the US arenas, and Australians seem more polite, so you never know.
Whatever they do, I can't wait to hear and I want FULL reports!!!

Did he say why
If we were playing one of our own shows, that's one thing, but when you're playing a festival and you've only got a limited amount of time, you play the songs that people came to hear. But, in a way, it's also fun for us playing those songs 'cause it's not what we're doing in the studio, it's a little bit different....we'll see.
Also:
I think we'll know a lot more about what kind of record it's gonna be by the time we get down there.
I'm not scanning it, because it's too big and my printer is shit. So, I guess he's saying that doing the staples would be a break in the weather from doing what they've been doing studio-wise. Still, it's two-to-one in favour of new songs I believe.

[QUOTE=Miramanee]Who's to say that they won't perform new songs outside the Good Vibrations Festival? Maybe even under another band name? They've never done that before in Australia. Right? ;)QUOTE]
the played a full hardcore set as quasar in 1997, they should do that again!
