I take my seat inside almost anywhere I'm going, and more than once, a stranger asks me something along the lines of, "Wow -- is San José that bad?" Well, I dunno, but the fairly junky bike I had a year ago got ripped off, so I just figure, screw it -- I can't afford to support other people's hobbies, ya know?

yea..

I have been doing the courrier bike for like 2 month, so far i have been really lucky and it would really be a pain to take out my seat all the time as i would lose a precious amount of time. As a courrier , i do aprrox 40 courses a day, so imagine. But some friends biker had told me to change my clip on seat..just never had the time to do it. Now i think i have the right oppurtunity to do so.

Lucky that my bike still there, it is a mountain norco big foot(800$) , so i feel blessed that it is just my seat that has been stolen.

anyway..fucking thieves:mad:

11-10-2006, 01:21 PM
I think my retardedly messy room scared them off from takin much from there

cause I FOUND the muppets dvd because when they made a dive for my dvd shelf it looks like they mostly knock some of it back behind the tv stand but Im not sure what they actually made off with now
though I think they saw that my dvd collection included "the dick cavet show: john and yoko" and shit like "the buddy holly story" and were like fuuuuuck dis mang

I think my habit of leaving ripped open boxes of tampons and pantyliners strewn across my room may have scared em off too

my roomie is super pissed, I got ahold of him at like 6 am last night

normally we have like atleast 2 broken down cars parked in our driveway plus the cars of my brothers girlfriend, my roomie and his girlfriend but post moveout the cars were taken away and noone has been here so it probably looked semi-deserted compared to normal

goddammit, I feel so unsafe now

and I had the worst dreams when i finally went to sleep

I drempt (sp?) that someone had come in and slashed all my moms paintings that I have here that shes done :(

At least the Muppet DVD is safe! Oh yeah, you're okay too. That is good. I'm going to put Tampons all over my home since that seems to scare burglars. Used tampons.

What a night, huh?

befsquire
11-10-2006, 02:37 PM
it's such a violation. i'm sorry, heiress. :(

i have tons and tons of clients who are burglars and break into homes and cars. not one of them ever wants a person to be home when they do it, and none of them would even dream of harming a person physically. they don't even realize that they are harming people mentally. so, anyway, i know you're jumpy and you're going to have that feeling for a while, but you shouldn't fear for your safety. if it's kids, they just want stuff that they think is cool. if it's crackheads, they want stuff they can sell or trade for drugs. the sword is sorta making me lean towards kids, because they would think it's cool.

HEIRESS
11-10-2006, 03:04 PM
I cant wait to move the fuck outta this joint

yeah, the cop just left
derka derka

that was kinda fun actually and I was makin him LOL

I said "yeah they didnt take the tvs or dvd players because if I saw kids in this hood running with that shit Id call the cops but If i saw a gang of kids swinging around a huge medieval battle sword Id just be like, 'yeah whatever just another day around here' you know?"

and he was all LOLZZZ "we joke about that alot too regarding this neighborhood!!"

then my mom came over while he was here and she made a comment "if you actually cleaned your room once in awhile youd have noticed that stuff was missing right away!!!"

and I go "yes mom, I was robbed because im have a messy room, cut me some slack here!"

and then the cop went "it would make for a better crime scene!"

and i said "ok ok geez guys, why dont you just put me on the next "crimestopper" tips commercial on tv saying 'CLEAN YOUR ROOM KIDS!'"

and then there was more cop LOLing

and then as he was leaving I had his contact card and I asked how to pronounced his last name

and he said "its just like its spelled!"

and I said "oh just like how my first name is pronounced like its spelled but you said it wrong when you arrived!"

and then yet again more cop LOLing

I feel better now, but not really because he said nothing was worth fingerprinting because its so cold outside and he can tell the person was wearing gloves

Gareth
11-10-2006, 03:38 PM
that is the suckness
can you lie on your insurance claim and get some new shit?

HEIRESS
11-10-2006, 03:41 PM
I didnt have renters insurance :(

I swear like maybe 5-6 dvds only are gone and maybe a random cd

after they got the sword and 2-300 bucks in change they were just like sweeeeeet lets go!

the fact that its a window is whats sketching me, if it was a door we could be like "oh we'll get a better lock" but if they broke one window they can break any other of the about 15+ at ground level in this place
:(

befsquire
11-10-2006, 03:42 PM
did they pick a window that's fairly well away from the street and the view of most neighbors?

HEIRESS
11-10-2006, 03:49 PM
they smashed the window right open

actually I dont think any of our windows lock, its a really old house with the like PUSH up windows with big huge frames

granted half of them dont even open because they are so old and shitty so thats probably why they smashed the window when they couldnt get any open

and the cop said it looked like they tried one of the kitchen windows first because it was pushed slightly up

11-10-2006, 03:56 PM
sucky.

I bet the chances of your house getting broke into again are pretty slim. Apparently you don't have anything that makes a crackhead/thief salivate....anymore at least.

don't sweat it too much. and get a big dog if you still feel unsafe.

HEIRESS
11-10-2006, 03:57 PM
oh, and our house in on a corner, so one neighbor, and the people across from us is actually a CHURCH thats empty at night

so the window they broke is the one facing the really busy street we face but we have a big high fence around the yard beause my roommate and his girlfriend have dogs

BUT an apartment complex its kinda across from us with windows that go up to about 4 floors

and it gets dark at like 4:30 pm here now sp I dunno

there is also a bus stop right outside our fence on the sidewalk

i'd say it's definitely kids then, heiress. a "professional" burglar wouldn't have made his entry any more difficult than it needs to be. he'd have gone through one of the windows that's got the plastic rather than breaking one, and he'd have shielded himself from view as much as possible. he wouldn't have tried multiple windows. it sounds very unsophisticated and downright stupid, which makes me think it's kids. burglars know where people hide things and drawers would have been pulled out, the kitchen pantry would have things removed, etc., whereas kids are going to take whatever's right in view and easy to grab.

while crackheads aren't smart enough to keep from getting hooked on drugs, they're pretty devious and they certainly don't want to get caught because they can't score crack as easily in jail. so, even a crackhead would have picked a smarter entry.

it's gotta be kids.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal Heiress.

I've only had a couple of small things stolen (which means its been by my visitors), usually records, and as I have quite a few of them hadn't noticed until ages later that they're missing.
I'm quite worried about them taking the sword cause that can be used on future crimes as a weapon at robberies or for serious bodily harm...
When I worked at this garden center we had two of these trailors stolen over midsummer holidays. I bet they were used for robbing houses (the garden center is quite close to the more exclusive areas of Stockholm) while people were celebrating somewhere else.

After my initial rush of OMG I hope she's alright I did assess the situation on my commute (yes I was just that bored) and was surprised to see you Matlocks already figured it oput before I had time to post my hypothesis.

I agree 100% with befthsquire. The break-in's I've seen (my folks, my friends, but never me *knock on wood*) were always done by professionals, according to the cops. Door break-in's (on a side or garage door) are usually what they do. Smashing windows = really high or pretty drunk.

I'd be willing to bet whoever did it won't be back. If it was a professional, they definately won't be back, because professional thieves don't hit the same spot twice. If it was kids, the bars on the windows that your dad put in should be enough to tell them to back off.

If you want to stay (if it's a cool house, lets say) installing a motion activated light outside might be a good idea. The neighborhood sounds goofy anyways, not worth sticking around.

HEIRESS
11-10-2006, 10:48 PM
oh no bars on the windows though

shit man, for the entire summer, actually lets not kid until early october, the windows in our upper attic area were entirely pane-less, just big gaping holes

Still worried of course for HEIRESS's safety, but after seeing actual pictures of her reletively charming little abode, this takes on a new dimension. A dimension of kids running around with a Medieval Battle Sword in canada.
