I used to work for a red cross donation center for a few months. Just labeling and storing bags upon bags of blood. The coolest thing, literally, was storing the blood in the extremly cold freezer chamber in the summer heat. What a nice feeling. Anyway, I never gave blood there and I don't even know my type...

i quite regularly give blood. when i can. i did it more at school (it meant you could skive off class, wahoo!).. here you sorta build up blood "credits" and you get little tokens of thanks. s'cool. and you got juice and biscuits afterwards.
i don't feel faint or anything normally. i always ask for the anaesthetic though. the last couple of times i haven't been able to give any blood because they say i'm borderline anaemic :( i'll teach 'em!
my nan has some super special rare blood that is needed in hospitals and she gets invited to dinners hosted by the national blood service and has all these china plate collections from the NBS and all that pizzazz.
blood is awesome (y)

I had a horrible experience giving blood for the first time last week. They couldn't find any promiment veins for ages then they one they finally inserted the needle into was too 'moveable', so they had to keep fiddling with the needle. The machine kept bleeping because they couldn't get enough blood from me, it was quite frightening actually. Then eventually the guy says to me after, "ah yeah it's because you're a small girl, you've got small veins so they're not really suited, love."
I ended up giving only half a pint, getting a nasty bruise and fainting in cafe Neros. It was all very unpleasant, especially without anaesthetic (I was talked out of it). I may try again with my other arm. Maybe.

i give blood as much as i can, but i get turned away half the time cause im anemic, so, uh, they dont want my iron-poor blood. but i try, about twice a year to go. and i have a pretty blood donor card in my wallet. and my blood type is awesome.
and the cookies and juice is the best reward ever.

it always takes a while for the bag to fill up (i've got verrry low pressure) and it took me a few years of iron supplementation to compensate for my weensy bit of anemia. but i love giving blood. i always have to bring my own cookies, though.
