Holy crap.

I rented THIRTEEN because I liked Evan Rachel Wood in DOWN IN THE VALLEY, so I figured I'd see how good she is elsewhere. Holy smokes.

Have any of you seen this? Basically, she's a girl who starts acting up in variopus ways to get in with another girl she admires. Sounds clichéd -- she starts stealing, drinking, having sex, piercing herself, cutting, etc., -- but it was done really well. Holly Hunter is good in it, too.

Anyway -- Ms. Wood is great in this, but the movie scared the crap out of me. I can't imagine the possibility of having a kid just go off the rails like this and become so... so... such a problem. Yikes. But it seemed pretty conceivable. (Plus, the mom didn't do a great job of reigning things in, anyway.)

Yikes yikes yikes.

Good movie, kind of stops rather than ends, but a good movie.

B+.

it was supposedly about the other girl (the one who plays evan rachel wood's friend), written by that girl and her mom.

Yeah -- she (the other actress -- the co-writer) talked about that a little in this pathetic little "making of" thing they threw on.

In the movie, that girl was such a skanky bitch -- I can't see why anyone would be attracted to that.

I feel guilty for sayin' it, but... they were both hot. :o :(

Anyways, I saw it when it came out. It was well-done, but far from anything I'd like to see again.

It blew. Hm, okay, girl steals, girl uses drugs, girl is a skank/has typical, teenage bi-sexual fun-time.

Yeah. I can go watch this crap at the under 21 nights at Tink's. Better yet the mall.

it made me sad. I hate teenagers. I acted like a 45 year old when I was 13. and now that I'm 45, I act like I'm 13.

I thought it was a good movie. I thought the actors were all strong.

I liked the movie, but I loved a couple of the scenes between the mother and daughter. I think it's one of the most accurate portrayals of a modern parental relationship that hits trouble on film.

amirite?

I saw this movie a long time ago. I thought it was a tad overdone, but it was still very captivating. Kind of scary how ERW's character changed into this nightmare child so quickly, but at the same time not very suprising considering her mother was an alchy with that ass for a boyfriend...was she an alcoholic or a druggie? It's been so long I forgot.
