...but come to find out I WAS :)
So my homeboy Ju flew down for the weekend and we went and did all the tourist stuff in London on Saturday so of course we hit Buckingham Palace. Another friend of mine let us know that the Queen was home because they were flying some flag. There wasn’t really that much people in front of the palace compared to last time I was there. Anyway we see that one of the gates is open and there are a couple cops telling people to grab their kids and get outta the way so we get all curious to see what’s up and stroll on over and then a motorcycle cop drives through the gate followed by the Queen and Prince Philip and she was all smiling and waving and then said something to Prince Philip and he started laughing (they were probably laughing at us peasants) and then they drove off and a van full of guards followed… it wasn’t the huge motorcade I thought it would be but it was still a really cool way to wrap up doing tourist stuff in London (y) .

the royal family. they're aiiight. i went to a concert once. in their back garden.
iz true (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Party-At-Palace-Meera-Syal/dp/B000069E30).
ranald won the tickets and we were interviewed by bbc news an' everything! we got to walk through the palace (not too shabby!) and pick up our picnic bags and have a pint of beer in the garden. and then watch brian may do a guitar solo from the roof at the start of the concert. the royal family were in the box to the right of us. very bizarre!

You know what's funny? If Ju hadn't have taken so long at the gift shop at Westminster Abbey, we would have gotten to the Palace much earlier and left the Palace before the Queen and Prince came out. Later that night we were telling some English people I know and most of them were all "I've lived here for ____ years and I've never laid eyes on them, you've been here one day and already I seen them" to Ju. Then we went and got t-shirts made that said "~Mind The Gap~ tour 2006"

It's supposed to symbolise feet washing, and I would have rather had her wash some feet than just hand out cash.

I'm pretty sure that I've stated numerous times in various threads that the royal family should all be dragged into the street and have their throats cut.

But, Joe! They're just a poor, unfortunate, wealthy family with lots of swords and muskets who bullied their way into owning an entire country because they believed that they had a divine right to do so.
What have they ever done to deserve such scorn? :(

GUys... the thread was about how it was cool to cap off a touristy day in London with seeing the Queen and Prince Philip.

I'm quite happy with having the Royals as Heads of State of my country. I do think the family could be "trimmed down" a bit cos admittedly some are friggin' useless, but I like the Queen, Charles, William etc. I know they have lots of "free" money but sometimes I think that can be a curse too.
