"There's a 3 hour delay on the red line today. One of the stations has been shut down and there's a shuttle bus connecting the lines together. But since there's thousands of people that take the Metro every day, that's gonna be clogged so don't expect to get into work before lunchtime, lol."

I had to drive into work...in DC traffic...in the rain. The kicker? The parking lots around my building were abused by people too cheap to pay for the paid parking here, so every single lot says "No commuter parking. Towed after 2 hours." So I had to park at a meter and I have to leave my desk every 2 hours (in the rain and I forgot my umbrella today) to feed the meter full of quarters...that I have to get by going to the goddamn bank because I don't have fuckin' quarters lying around.

Taking the Metro everyday has made me appreciate just how unreliable service really is. If the cars aren't breaking down, there's a station shut down. If it's not a station that's shut down, it's just running slow and behind schedule. Goddammit.

...looks like bionic's public transport rage is making it's way down the rest of the east coast!

I'm going to listen to "On the metro" by Berlin now and then I will THINK about you. Maybe you can do your commuting tomorrow then...

Except I'm not pissed off at the people who ride it, just the people who run it. Though the people who ride it suck too.

But yeah, DC Metro is owned by a private corporation, which is why it costs me $7.80 per day to commute into Virginia and back. NYC has it down - $2 per ride, no matter where you go. $4 flat-rate per day. To save money, I bought the weekly pass - but if you don't use it everyday of the week, you don't save money. Grr.

DC just gouges and it sucks. Especially when their shit breaks all the time.

The DC metro is an above ground railway.

The DC metro is an above ground railway.

and underground. depends on which area you are at.

Yeah, I'm underground for 70% of my commute. In DC it's almost completely underground. Once you get into Maryland it'll be above...also around Reagan National Airport it's above. It's random.

But yeah, I'd call in sick if it didn't come out of my vacation days. I have 3 weeks of "Whatever I want" and I can use it for sick or vacation. I've never used it for sick because I'd rather show up diseased to work than spend a day at home that could have been spent on a beach somewhere. So I just consider all those days vacation.

You know, they're trying to get us additional days off. I already have 25 per year (holidays and vacation time). But now they say we should have separate sick days. Hmmm.

I moved my car from the meters to the 2-hour parking. I think I should be okay.

My boss bought me cookies.
