For my graduate school portfolio I have to include bits of work to exhibit my writing abilities so I thought why not include the haikus series I created in honor of the Beastie Boys, and why not share them with you all! It's just something I did for fun when I would get bored in class so let me know what you think (criticism, flubs, comments, whatever). I'll start with just showing a couple and see how things go.
"Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Internal Excellence: a Series of Haikus" by me
Say Kid or Adam
King Adrock that is his name
Puts shame in your game
The Brooklyn dweller
Now best buddies with Buddha
Gives girls Yauch-itis
With the smoothest voice
He is crazy sniffable
Get on the mic, Mike

nice but i'm sure a lot of people on here won't know what a 'Haiku' is!

Really? Is it weird that I was genuinely surprised by that? Well if anyone cares it's a poem where the first and last line contains 5 syllables and the middle line contains 7.

Well I didn't know what one was till of couple of months ago!

Apparently making a word plural does not make it multi-syllabic, so those words are okay. I went back and checked it all, and it worked out fine except for the "Yauch-itis" one. That one is like undetermined so I'm going to take creative liberty with that (it was after all inspired by the "many looks of Adam Yauch" thread on here) :D . Thanks for the input!

To complete one haiku it probably takes me a few minutes if I've got the inspiration. Even if I don't, once I start one I can usually finish it pretty quickly because the rest of it just comes to me as I write. Coming up with this series took me like a few days because I would leave it and then come back to it. Most of them were written during my Shakespeare and European Romanticism class.
I showed them to my friend and she didn't get them, so I figured the fans would be more likely to appreciate them :) .

The Beastie Boys got me into grad school! Well they helped because I got into the California Institute of the Arts for my poetry (which included my Beastie Boys haiku series) and other work! Another reason why loving the Beastie Boys is beneficial.
