CON:
I could've slept another hour or two this morning, but it throws off my sleep pattern so I wind up unable to get to sleep for hours after I SHOULD get to sleep.
I haven't been able to work out in a week and a half now, which really sucks, because now "not working out" is becoming the lifestyle. (n)
It's hard to eat proper food, because I'm not really hungry plus I have to fix it, and I really don't have the energy for that. When I AM hungry, all I want is pretty crappy food that has almost no nutriotional value.
Being sick kind of throws everything off of routine, so everything takes longer. I have to REMEMBER to get my keys, brush my teeth, oh yeah! the water bottle, the ankle straps for the bike, oh yeah! my other set of keys, change for the morning newspaper, oh yeah! socks are a good idea, etc. All the stuff I can usually just do in my sleep has to almost be written down like I'm Leonard Shelby or something.
...and now, the PROS:
I really do like the body horror stuff. It's really satisfying to have a rattle in the chest and then cough up a big old olive green wad of phlegm and spit it out and look at it. (A couple of days ago I had the biggest one I can ever recall -- it was about the size of a sour ball and hocked right up my throat, fully formed like that. -- and my sore throat was gone IMMEDIATELY. What the heck is that!?) I love having a headful of snot and a fresh, sturdy tissue to drain it out into. Blowing the nose and feeling all of that crap run down from behind the eyes and out the nose and into the tissue -- which, of course, must then be inspected -- is a nice, relieving feeling. Usually temporary, but it's great. -- and what kind of snot came out? Is it the thick white-ish sort of stuff or more of the phlegm-colored stuff? How dark? Is it getting lighter? Is it speckled with anything? Any blood from blowing the nose and sneezing so damned much?
The bed. Man, if you're sick AND you can sleep, I don't know as if the bed ever, ever feels that good otherwise. When you're sick, the bed feels so good and right and you achieve such oneness with the bed that it's entirely conceivable to never ever leave the bed again. One more hour. Please.
The PRO AND CON:
Drinking less coffee. We don't have decaf at the office at the moment, so my coffee consumption's going way down.
Cigarettes don't taste good. But I needed to quit again anyway.
GET WELL SOON

I can lay off the cigs pretty well when I'm ill. Which is a rate occurence, fortunately. Get a tooth-pick and examine the slime! If you find a very hard portion, bring it to a doctor, then come back here and tell me what it was.

this is my personal favorite... unconventional, unorthodox, a little crazy, but i will share with you:
garlic soup.
slice a head of garlic, thin
get pan
put garlic in pan
cover garlic in olive oil
brown garlic, salt and pepper
add water, boil
add some dry pasta
eat it.
have this with a nice vitamin cocktail and you'll be good to go by tomorrow, guaranteed.
get well...

Huh. Doctor said it's Al Capone left one.
That's weird.
But -- talk to me, folks. What are your own pros and cons about being sick?
Also: why does just having a cold make all the muscles ache? That seems weird.

I make a garlic soup sometimes, plus aioli. Too lazy usually when I'm sick to do that.
But I have been eating cloves of garlic every day. Maybe that's why I've got a kind of half-assed cold instead of a full-blown knock-down bronchial thing like I usually get.

...ah! The "bed is fresh" thing made me think of another PRO/CON:
CON: How the apartment (or bedroom or house or whatever) gets all stale-and-contaminated feeling and just kind of cries out to be disinfected.
PRO: Going outside after being cooped up for too long and getting whatever version of "fresh air" the city has to offer that day. Ah, man! (y)

This is so true!
Right now it feels like the whole flat smells like a junkie's flat....
Wish there was someone to change my sheets, they must be dripping with sweat by this time, and I'm too tired to change them.
In situations like this I wish I had a flatmate or a boyfriend who'd make me tea and tucked me in. Luckily my neighbour brought me some blueberry soup (my favourite flu medicine, along with sliced fresch garlic on rye) and cough medicine.

I was just thinking about this sort of thing this morning. I'm starting to feel a little better but now I'm also waking up to the fact that there's a lot of cleaning and laundry to be done because I haven't had the energy. Ugh.
