RIP, dude. (http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/11/21/obit.altman.ap/index.html)

You made one of my all-time, top five favorite movies and quite a few others that were just fantastic.

McCabe and Mrs. Miller
Nashville
The Long Goodbye
3 Women
The Player
Secret Honor

it's crappy that there aren't more established, unconventional filmmakers like him. shortcuts and prêt-à-porter really stand out for me, and i hate to mention it but i couldn't get through popeye.

r.i.p.

I forgot to include "California Split," which is terrific.

Damn,I would have never thought "Prarie Home Companion" would be his last, what a sweet and subtle note to go out on....."Gosford Park" is brilliant,my fave by him and "Cookies Fortune" as well, those films draw you in and hold ya with certain "je ne sais quoi" as they say....

I think he still had another movie in the works.

I wonder if anyone ever filmed his opera version of McTeague that was in Chicago.

I think he still had another movie in the works.

it was a narrative movie based off that doc "hands on a hard body"

weird.

That's right! I forgot about that.

That actually has/d potential.

More than, say, a narrative version of Super Size Me.
