I was caught by grammar.
The note I had written was perfect apart from a small grammatical error. It wasn't even that obvious, but the teacher said she'd met my mum and knew she was unlikely to make such an arror (they'd met? ) One quick call for confirmation and I was up to my eyeballs in it.

haha, omg that is soo tight. my teachers didnt even read the note they just breifly glanced at it and signed me out. but then again it might just be that they can't read.

i only bailed on the last 2 lectures once coz it was my bday and i wanted to go see jamiroquai. that's about it. wagging at our school was pretty easy, and no one ever got expelled for it. there was one girl in my grade who was caught wagging/smoking and was never expelled

theres a girl at my school whos a total druggy, she smokes, shes a total whore and an embarrasment, she pushed a girl into a locker and down the stairs and she wasnt expelled, but my friend was almost suspeneded and they considered expelling her for wearing the wrong school shoes.

do u guys wear uniforms at your school?
vickista
11-23-2006, 03:25 AM
do u guys wear uniforms at your school?
yeah in aus most schools do, primary skool, high skool, public&private, coz everyone here is very racist and stuck up, so uniform makes us 'look & fell more equal' or soemthing like that.
vickista
11-23-2006, 03:32 AM
um
maybe you should stay in school. and perhaps learn how to spell a bit better.
just a suggestion.
nah, i was skipping science and health, dont think i wlda learnt how to spell there.

is racism really that bad down in melbourne? it's never been a problem here, and nearly a quarter of the city was born overseas. it was never a problem at my school, but that was prolly coz there was only 1 person in the entire school that wasn't white
ggirlballa
11-23-2006, 03:52 AM
racsism here in L.A is pretty bad us brownies don't get along with the blackies, but in my school its not like that i have black friends & they have brown friends, but in other schools they hate each other, wtf?
vickista
11-23-2006, 03:53 AM
my point is
making blanket statements about how stuck up and racist Australians/Melbournians/people who reside in Hawthorn are only exposes your own ignorance. certain individuals might posess such traits, but probably not your entire suburb and its surrounds.
that's all.
trust me i know this, if i didnt i wld be racist myself, but that is the actual reason for wearing uniforms to stop racism and to make everyone feel equal at school.
i've met some more then decent aussies, but then again some spit on me as i walk to skool and call me a "fucking dumbcunt wog" so believe me im well aware that they arent All like that, but ALot of them still are.
vickista
11-23-2006, 03:57 AM
i'd say we're probably just as tolerant as any other place.
i've never been discriminated against, my friends have never been discriminated against, and i've never witnessed any major act of racism.
having said that, i'm sure there are some bad apples. but no more than anywhere else in Australia.
yeah ur right probly no more than is expected but in Hawthorn they're a right bit stuck up, u try walking down Glenferrie rd at 4 o'clock in the afternoon in a public school uniform and see if they dont bag the shit outta you or greez you off so bad it looks their eye balls are going to pop out of their sockets. so being both lower class and ethnic insults them even more.

vickista
11-23-2006, 04:29 AM
everytime you post here you have this whole "i'm so hard done by" attitude.
if you think that your ethnicity defines who you are as a complete person, then fine. if you want to sit around and pidgeonhole yourself as being "lower class" then that's fine too. but if you do, you'll never escape that hard done by mentality, and severely limit opportunities for personal growth...
dude, ethnicity defines a large part of who you are, the way ur raised, ur culrure, religion, identity etc. personally i dont think its a bad thing, i just hate how some ppl give u a hard time about it. and my family is lower class, i dont care its just gonna make it all the better when i show them stuck up sons a bitches that i kick they're academic asses even though my school didnt get to cheat on the aims test, and because i am actually worth it get a better job when i finish school.
when no ones ever believed in you and all they've ever told you is that ur a good for nothing failure, i think its justified to fell a little hard done by, but that doesn't mean u let it inhibbit you, you prove them wrong.
you be the best you can be despite what they say, whats wrong with a mentallity like that? how am i 'limiting opportunities for personal growth'?
ps. not trying to patronise, genuinley asking

i'd agree that your culture is an important part of who you are, but you shouldn't define yourself wholly using just that one aspect of your life. life is bigger than simply where your parents came from, and what they've done in the past. you have to get up, get educated and invent your own self. don't be bound by cultural expectations, i guess.
and the sad fact of the matter is, it gets you nowhere fast later on in life to hate "stuck up sons a bitches". those kids you seem to dislike so much now will probably at some point be your boss, manager or co-worker, or you'll have to rely on them or someone similar to provide a service to you, so it pays to just forget that animosity, quit with the labelling and put your nose to the grindstone and work. life isn't fair but being angry about your circumstance in comparison to that of others is pretty fruitless.
use it to fuel your quest for something better, but remember, if you simply hate them based on their upbringing/attiude, you're no better than them - be the better person and learn from them.
as for the hard done by mentality - you've complained in the past about this sort of thing, and whinged about how nobody thinks you're smart enough or whatever...i can only call it as i see it.
it's good that you have that fighting spirit, i've just never seen it before.
i guess i'm harping at you because i can see a tiny bit of my younger, naive self in your posts (course my grammar was slightly better :p ) but i've grown up alot and learned plenty...i suppose i just feel the need to impart what i know to someone :o
well no offence, but you dont know me and u've got it wrong.
im not bound by cultural expectations, i have my own life and i try to make the best of it, and do the best possible for myself, whether its culturally exeptable or not.
and i dont HATE those "son a bitches" they hate me, i just want to makle it clear to them that im just as good and we're all equal so they shldnt have any beef. the only thing i hate is some of those rich kids who've never worked for anything in their life, i intend to show them that if you want something u gotta work hard otherwise someone who knows the meaning of the 'work' will take it from you.
and all my "hate" and "anger" and "hard done by mentality" is what goes towards the A's i get in class and the dedication i have to getting out of that way of life,
so that when im older and i have kids i wont be working 7 days a week to put food on the table, i wont be so tired from working 12 hrs a day 7 days a week that i wont have time for my kids, and they wont have to see guys injecting seringes on the street while they walk to their grandmas because their parents are at working late again and cant look after them.
im not angry at the circumstances im angry that no one cares, nor do they help.
im also angry that u sit here and judge me. trust me im gonna turn out fine. i have to.

At school me and my friends used to jump the gate to go smoke some weed, get some McDonalds or some shit all the time. I don't see why you're making a big deal out of it, everyone bunks once in a while don't they?
Now I'm at college and there's nothing to stop you walking out, my attendance is around 60%.
I got suspended for wagging classes twice. Kinda defeated the whole object of it. Thats why I made sure I was caught the second time :D

I like uniforms.
It's not generally a race related thing, more to do with pupil idnetification when out and about, class equality (although you can still tell the poor kids in their shabby unifoms), and a removal of an appearence distraction. One school my daughter went to to didn't have a uniform, and it was hell, all that choosing what to wear crap.
Yikes, this thread is making me feel ancient.
So many word replacements and so few capital letters.

i wagged all the time
ahh the joys of having 2 parents who worked all day and living a 5 min walk from school
i'd just get my friends (with their "grown up" handwriting lol) to write a note explaining my abesnce, i'd hand it into the office ladies and as if they'd know what my mum's writing looked like, so they'd mark it off as an explained absence. ALL GOOD
except that my friend poppy was a notorious wagger (she didn't supply notes so got in trouble) and one day i was wagging with her, we did the usual, walked to the lake, smoked some pot, and were heading back to mine, except... poppy's mum was parked out the front of my house. the school had called both our parents, but as mine weren't home, they never got the call.
sweet. the only time i got busted was when my dad had to drop home one day and caught me, but i just said i stayed at home to do an assignment and he was ok with it.
oh in yr 11 and 12 we had PE once a week, for a triple period (2 hours) and you were free to do whatever sport you wanted, but noone checked where anyone was, so most people just left for that time.
we needed 80% attendance to graduate, i was pretty much on exactly 80%.
my school was awfully relaxed... then we got a new principal when i was in yr 12 who tried to change the rules about leaving school during the day... and uniforms... bitch had no chance!!
then they closed the school down and combined it with another school and moved it, and it turned into a total prison with uniforms and everything.

I got a mate like that, he sailed through school and college without really any effort. He was a right jammy twat, then we went to uni and he didn't even make it past Christmas in the first year.
I gotta cool job with a really good wage, he works with his gran selling handbags on a market stall.
