MAC Addresses can be spoofed.

You should use WPA in addition to that if you don't already. Not only will encrypt the transmission but by doing so also won't allow people in should they break the MAC protection.

synch, sometimes i get a "talktalk (my isp) skin" won't work or whatever prompt with ie. does that mean the signal is super low? in my room it says the signal strength is extremely low but it is connected at 54mps. it works alright.

so far i'm using my internal wireless card but i have a netgear usb stick which is meant to be the best thing to use with the rangemax router - taking full advantage of its features yaddayaddayadda. i installed it but it wasn't liking it. i don't know what i did wrong. anyway. i'm still online so s'all good.
