How do i get old VHS videos onto my computer?

i have all these old movies my friends and i made in high school that i want to digitize, but there are so many of these tv tuner thingers, i dont know which to chose.

what is the benchmark, what's a good standard thing i can get to do this well? since they're vhs-blurry already, i want to keep the quality as much as possible.

do i need anything special? anyone know what to do?
