It's weird, in Canada "post-secondary education" is used so much more than just "college." When I read this thread I was like "I didn't know Soba was studying to be a teacher, lol"

Aaaannyways, it pays off. A lot of the stuff I didn't give two shits about and a lot of stuff I'll never really need to know given my field, but it taught me researching skills which are in high demand. So just look as an investment. It'll pay off eventually.

I love college. It might be because when I'm finished I will have earned the right to say "Back off man, I'm a scientist."

"Post-secondary education" is just an umbrella term that means "college" and "university" (and like trades schools and shiznit like that).

Americans use "college" to mean a general undergraduate degree at a university or attending a community college.

In Canada, "college" just pertains to community college, trade schools, etc. and "university" just refers to undergrad Bachelor's degree and the like.

i loved college. i loved sleeping through classes, not doing the readings, taking half-assed notes, and still somehow doing well on exams. i can't believe that worked.

i don't think the same strategy is going to avail me in law school though

but we'll see!

I'm in my fifth semester straight after being out of school for 12 years and it's definintely starting to wear me out a little

I love school and love the idea of being part of something that is a hell of a privilege and gaining more knowledge, skills, honing my talents but I don't know if I'll feel so great about it when I go into my 6th and 7th semesters straight...no breaks (besides winter).

I still have no idea what I really want to do with it though

These last two weeks are going to be hell.

If I play my cards right, some dumb-shit advertising firm might pay for my Masters Degree.

im in it for the long haul. i hate that a bachelors degree teaches you nothing. but that's why im hardly satisfied by a ba.

i hate school with a passion. i'm a very slack person when it comes to school-type shit. my mind wanders too much, and i get off track like nothing else. i'm giving university a year, though, and if it doesn't work out after april, carpentry school is getting another student...

One of my favorate classes in college was political science.

I failed the class with a 52.

The test were horrific. One question, five answers, 4 of them are 'right, only 1 of them are "righter" than the other "rights"

Hey! The security guard where i work did the same degree as you Soba.

NLOL made a good point. In all reality when you come out this degree isn't going to get you much. Maybe primary education, or something.

i think i'll end up hating what i will do for a career with my uni course. but i'll end up hating myself even more if i let my talent go to waste. it's a lose lose situation :(

i'm certainly not in a graduate-level job. i would be better off if i just worked for a bloody bank when i left school and worked my way up.

i'm beginning to wonder if graduate-level jobs exist anymore for people without economics, business, law, medical or accounting degrees.

there are too many graduates nowadays and not enough jobs.

suckage.

economics is absolute bullshit. well at least the stuff they teach at uni. 20% of one of my subjects was based on this theory called Giffen Goods, yet they bloody dont even exist in the real world! even the textbook states "at the time of publishing, the author does not know of any such examples of Giffen Goods" most of economics is so bloody obvious, and lots of douche's throughout time have won nobel prizes for these bloody obvious theories.

cause everyone hates the first couple years of my program. i have lots of time to think if it's worth it over the christmas break, and summer.

actually its just that most college graudates are idiots with no elbow rubbing skills or nepotism and expect that their job will come directly within their field of study.

I plan to never do a four year degree, and I will probably do better than most people who do.

It's taken me a little while to feel confident that my path in life, whatever it may be, does not require a college education. How have I learned this, you wonder? By using my friends who recently graduated with Bachelors Degrees as case studies. Most of them are either clueless as to what to do next, working jobs that are just a minor step above entry level (which they just as easily could've gotten with the years of work experience they missed while in school), or both.

I sincerely doubt I'll ever go to a 4-year school. There's just as much job competition for the majority of graduates as there is for people who never went to college. The difference in pay rarely justifies the amount of student debt that has to be paid.
