From all the pot smoking I did in my younger years i now have a terribly shockingly bad memory. in fact 1997 onwards has been pretty much a blur. my friends always bring up funny moments from a few years ago, like 'hey mike you remember when we did this and this? that was sooo funny!!!'
and im like 'uhhh, no, we did that?'

so i cant really remember much that has happened this year at all, except now im an uncle for the first time. i cant even remember joining this board. its a bit of a worry.

-in january I had sex with a someone new
-in February I got a legit job in the film industry only to discover that, no matter what business it is, desk jobs make me want to blow my brains out
-in March I completed my 4th feature, got a speeding ticket
-in May I quit my job of 4 years and started a new and equally mind-numbing one
-in June I hung out with a girl I was crazy about (and hadn't seen since) 4 years ago
-in July I filmed a bunch of weddings, finally did Defensive driving
-in August I was my best friend's best man
-in September I was asked to be another friend's best man
-In October I saw the Secret Machines (finally), shot a music video and found out I sent the wrong defensive driving form to the court
-In November I went to court with the correct form and sent a myspace message to the lead singer of Incubus to tell him his page layout was gross.
-In December I plan to enact a scheme to win over the girl from the june part of this post and hopefully next year when I do this, the January part will read the same.

I'm sure there was other stuff in there too.

i've been doing shitty jobs i don't ever want to have as a career for the whole of 2006 and my confidence is at an all time low.

i really need 2007 to arrive here quickly and kick me up the ass.

-October finished my contract and I decided fuck this, I'm not doing another contract.

-Moved to a whole new state.

-My wife got a job as a journalist.

-I got a job offer but they are doing a background check so, I'm here twiddling my thumbs waiting for them to call back.

one of my favourite years so far.
I graduated college with first class honours, and met my girlfriend. So that's all good.

The World Cup, in hindsight, was dissapointing but it started off good.
Arsenal got to the final of the Champions League but lost, but it was good enough they got there.
The less said about this new footballing season the better.

I had fun.

The Notorious LOL

My great aunt passed away in September as well. She was 104.

One of my best friends lost both of his parents in August. His mom died first and then his dad died 2 weeks later. They were both real close to me as well.

Damn, 2006 was like the year of death.

I'm with Heiress, fuck you 2006.

*January - had my heart severely broken by my boyfriend of 4.5+ years, lost 10 pounds.
*April -Moved away from my parents forever.
*May - Met Brett. Started dating him on the 4th. Graduated from University of Maryland.
*June - Went on a plane for the first time. Went out of the country for the first time, to Canada.
*July - started my new job, working as a research assistant. I love it.
*October - had my first Canadian Thanksgiving! Saw Brett for the long weekend and met his grandma.
*December - Brett will be coming down and he'll be meeting my parents for the first time! We're gonna go explore the dirty south. :)

This year is undoubtedly the HUGEST transition year for me. Moved out of my parents house, they moved down to North Carolina, long-term boyfriend who I thought I was going to marry instead broke my heart, met a new boyfriend and am super happy, went on a plane for the first time, went out of the country for the first time, graduated from my university, got my first real job with a salary. DAMN.

- Did a lot of fun shit with Nick

- Watched a really great man die of cancer

It's probably been the most eventful year of my life so far. Some of the events have been bad, but mostly good.

2006 had varying degrees of good and bad:

*Mom got cancer and completed her first round of chemo
*Won a trip to Cabo and had a blast
*Mom's chemo didn't help, but completing her first round of radiation did a bit
*Saw Beck at UC Davis in small auditorium
*Added a pug puppy to the family
*Houseboating at Shasta for a week
*Changed jobs and moved in a new career direction
*Saw Beastie Boys in Santa Cruz at tiny venue
*Survived 6 week separation with the b/f, while he filmed a movie
*Trip to Philly and NYC all alone
*Mom can't walk due to a cyst
*To come = Vegas for New Year's Eve

*Started university after a lengthy break, and did pretty good.

*Lost my godmother to a heart attack in her sleep.

*Crofty from Duds got back in touch, and I remembered what it was like to have a real friend again. He came over here, had some fun.

*The world cup WAS a real memorable time this year. Lively pubs in Perth are a rarity, and need to happen more often.

*Got AIFST and realised I am a fanboy, and as such not very cool.

*Quit the job I hate, got a new one that's great. Doing fuck-all for a little bit of dough. While I study.

*Step-Dad's father dies, I lose my oldest (at 88 years of age, I mean) friend.

*Married her, she, the one.

*Didn't want to take away from the ups and downs of everybody else in the thread, just killing time.

Fuck cancer.

For real.

War on Cancer is long overdue. I keep saying it. It kills more people than terrorism does, that's for sure. Why isn't it one of our hugest priorities then? Why do we care so much about terrorism if cancer kills hundreds of thousands each year? I just don't get it.

My aunt had breast cancer earlier this year, she got her entire breast removed and she's okay. My mom's best friend died of cancer. These people aren't even that old, too! Jeez. :(

OK, let me see if I can find something of significance that happend to me each month...

January: My baby Bella was born.
Ferbruary: Won $350 in my office Superbowl Pool
March: Celebrated my 28th Birthday
April: Became an Uncle for the 2nd time.

Yeah, I think that's all I got. No one close to me died this year, so far (Thank God), and once the Baby was born, I didn't really do much.
