Sure we have political corruption (The mayor and his brother),
Sure we haven't won a major sports championship in 23 years (Sixers)
Sure we haven't had the best reputation as sports fans.......
and we threw Snowballs at Santa Claus.....

BUT

we have the Liberty Bell, South Street, Great BYOB Restaraunt, CHEESESTEAKS and The Roots....

Comment on Philly or your place....

Philly is great all year round. Of course Im biased. Our WaterFromt area is pretty cool, South Street and oour Performing Arts Centers rock for shows.

I was in Philly for the first time about 5 weeks ago. It was beautiful, full of history and I could definitely spend some time there. The rowing teams on the Delaware with the leaves changing and the gorgeous row houses - so Ivy League-like! Beautiful historical areas, cobblestoned streets, really cool architecture... can't say enough...

Thats Boat House row. That is where the have the big race "The Dad Vail Regatta". That is a lot of fun.

Old city is the other place, that is now where the brand new Constitution Center is. basically across from the Liberty Bell.

Where have you been in Philly?

Lots of places.

I spend most of my time when I'm there on South Street though.

I was considering going to a grad school in Philly. 'Course my mom got scared.

Now I'm living with my aunt and uncle in Bel-Air.

But seriously - I considered it.

I think I've driven through Philly and maybe stopped there once or twice, but not enough to really remember it.

With that being said, where I live:

*20 minutes from downtown DC (attractions: White House, Congress, all the memorials, Pentagon, Georgetown, embassies, Ford's Theater, Smithsonian (among many other museums) )
*10 minutes from forest and river, sailing and hiking.
*40 minutes from Baltimore (inner harbor & aquarium!)
*40 minutes from the beach
*20 minutes from the mountains
*20 minutes from farmland

My area is just so damn diverse, anywhere you want to go for the day/weekend trip, it's right there. Two major cities, beach/ocean, mountains, rivers, forests, farms, anything you could think of is within a good driving distance. I couldn't stand it if I lived in middle America, landlocked with nothin' to do. I love my area. :)
