The early Warhol acetate (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/40009/Owner_of_Velvet_Underground_Vinyl_Talks_eBay_Aucti )

Interesting. How would you like to find the first Velvets acetate on a sidewalk for seventy-five cents?

Current E-bay bid is almost $125k (US).

Some kind of release, though? I sorta doubt it, but who knows.

I saw this album by chance on Ebay yesterday and couldn't believe the price.

I haven't read any of the articles about it but what is it basically that makes it so valuable?

It's a different song order, and a different mix (I think that's the part that matters), and it was what Warhol preferred, supposedly. I assume this means it was before "Sunday Morning," since that was tacked on to be the "hit single."

Supposedly, the Velvets' current lawyers had no interest, which seems to me it wouldn't bode well for the purpose of buying it to release it.

Acetates are often worth some dough; $125k for the Velvets' first-ever acetate seems high, but, you know. Whatever the market will allow, I guess.
