My favourite are with fresh crusty bread, a nice crumbly Scottish Extra Mature Cheddar and some Bransons sandwich pickle.

In at number 2 we have again fresh crusty bread but toasted with cheese on top and anything from pepperoni, onions, green/red pepper or ham sprinkled over.

Garnish with either tobascco or Worcester sauce.

Cheese is good.

the best way to have a cheese sandwich is with slightly toasted broon bread (white bread if you're nasty).

add tomato relish or branston pickle. oh, and a good strong cheddar.

eat.

I remember Branston Pickle. You lot love it so much there's a floavour of crisps in its honour.

Do you guys grill the cheese snadwich? I butter mine up and heave them on the old George Forman. I hate cleaning the fucking thing, though.

kid: secret santa branston pickle perhaps? uh. not that i'm your secret santa. well. i could be. i could not be. i just didn't want to suggest either way. I'M PLAYING WITH YO MIND! but obviously if i really was your secret santa i would never have suggested it. would i? ahem.

my george foreman doesn't really grill properly. it's just a bit "meh". i also don't like that much margarine greasing everything up. keep it as a simple toasted sandwich, i say.

Forget the sammitch, chop up the bread into cubes and go all out with a fondue. Gruyere, a touch of garlic, white wine or cherry schnaps! To die for... If you wanna go for a subway style sandwich (sub) use fresh peppers (paprika), olives, jalapenos, basil and balsamico for mozarella, try to find a sauce to go with it.
I also like squeezable cheeze.

The delightful aroma of whatever bread is on the bench coupled with the creamy texture of pre sliced processed cheese of the cheapest variety.

On the "toasted debate" a George Foreman simply sucks at making nice "toasties". You need a proper toastie maker, like a Breville.

Generally I just have "cheese on toast" with other toppings rather than an actual sandwich though.

just plain cheese (thick slabs, cheddar) and pickle, white bread, with butter.

it really depends on the cheese.
a nice cheddar/monterray jack mix will melt like heaven. if you halve a baguette, put those cheeses on it, then place the baguette halves in the over for a little bit, you get the most delicious cheesy bread ever.

I was gonna say, calling it by its proper name of "sammich" is a good place to start when determining how to make one.

Now that you've got that part under control, options abound. (y)

This one time, I ate a really amazing grilled cheese sammich prepared by a hippy.

It was made with mozzarella cheese, a little marinara sauce, regular white bread buttered with garlic, and sprinkled with a bit of oregano.

Holy ever loving lord, the 'liciousness. (y)

BTW it was grilled. That's the only when to go, if you ask me.

Ahhh the mighty Breville. Gotta love those cheese and beans concoctions that are like molton lava inside.

I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to cheese. I like mild and creamy rather than strong chedders. Gimme me a bit of Wenslydale cheese inbetween some crusty bread and i'm happy.

Oh and Cmute -
Cheese is the bestest. It is the one word that makes everyone smile, think about that!"

What about squeeeeeze, pleeeease and um, disease! :D

Actually i've just remembered something that i love with a cheese sandwich - Piccalilli! (y)

Not sure if anywhere else has it apart from the UK but i love that stuff. For those who don't know it's a yellow (almost illuminious) chutney that has gherkins, onions, cauliflower and mustard in it.

I just take two slices of bread, put margarine on each side and cheese in the middle and then fry it in a pan.

I'm real creative, see.

Mmmmmm..cheese sammiches!! My favorite!

Okay- how about a Southern Grilled Cheese?

It's pretty easy. You make a standard grilled cheese (butter both sides of your bread, insert cheese, toss in a pan or on a griddle, blah..blah..)

You just need to add bacon, mayo and tomato with the cheese then cook it.

Good stuff!(y)

just plain cheese (thick slabs, cheddar) and pickle, white bread, with butter.

In Cheddar cheesemaking, the firm curd is finely chopped ('cheddared') to drain the whey and then pressed into blocks or cylinders.

A giant wheel of Cheddar cheese was given to Queen Victoria (1837-1901) for a wedding gift. It weighed over 1,000 pounds. A normal Cheddar wheel weighs 60-75 pounds.

Almost 90% of all cheese sold in the United States is classified as a Cheddar type cheese.

Cheddar, Cheshire and Leicester cheeses have been colored with annatto seed for over 200 years. Carrot juice and marigold petals have also been used to color cheeses. Coloring may have originally been added to cheese made with winter milk from cows eating hay to match the orange hue (from vitamin A) of cheeses made with milk from cows fed on green plants.

Cheshire cheese is the oldest cheddar type cheese, and the oldest named cheese in Britain. There are 3 varieties, a white, a 'red' (actually yellow in color) which is dyed with annatto, and a blue-veined variety originally considered undesirable when it occurred accidentally.

Leicester cheese is a hard cheese similar to Cheddar. It is usually orange colored. Leicester's texture is crumbly, so it does not slice good, but it as great with dishes such as Welsh Rabbit.

Longhorn cheese refers to a mild Cheddar or Colby cheese made into a long orange cylinder. Now available in both its original shape and also in rectangles and half rounds.
