I love that man, really.

However, will anything happen? Will people actually do anything about all this shit? The negative side of me says no, but I have hope.

You gotta love this guy. He can't really be taken too seriously, but he is by no means a man to be taken lightly either.

I'd still rather watch this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxkcZsSYzn0

BTW, Henry Rollins should stick to music, where he's quite good, and stay away from cameras with his over-expressive and over-expansive hand gestures....how freaking off-putting.

Now, now Sam, dismissing a man over arm waving is a bit easy isn't it?

If Glenn Beck is allowed to spew his nightly verbal diarrhea, then Henry Rollins should be able to tee off any way he likes. He's a punk rocker, and punk rock is NOT about shying away from politics. So sorry if he's not willing to be complacent.

I hate when people say that musicians should stay out of politics. Kid Rock is a Republican, and I wouldn't give a shit if he said that stuff in his music. Then again, he's retarded and so is his music. Either way, I hate the "You're a monkey to me, entertain me and keep your mouth shut" mentality because suppressing people's right to self-expression is suppressing what makes 'em human - a working, conscious mind that cares.

omg I Beatsie boyz nedes to shu tup about GEorge W becuz i likes rap and i do'nt wnt to here about politcs!!!1!

Exactly. Were you going to tell Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger to shut their mouth when they railed against various injustices of the world? Please guys, just stick to music.

music is the expression of man. some of the most amazing, beautiful, powerful and productive music is a direct response to the political and cultural affairs of the time. take the blues for example.
hippie music. (jimi hendrix, CSNY, neil young, joni mitchell etc...)
afrobeat.
jazzzzzzzzz....
these are all pure expressions of human beingness. sun ra once said that those who abuse the universal language will die. when you take music, the universal expression, the common language which unites people and places, and any art for that matter, when you create and your intentions are not pure- meaning your intentions are not driven by the desire to bring forth out of yourself, that which aligns with your being, you play with fire.

Henry is cool. (y)

And as AFAIK the last part of his piece was related to the growing controversy over what's called "net neutrality". This is one of those issues that WILL affect you (i.e. users of the Internet) if certain laws are put into place.

the internet must remain free and open!
we have in our hands a way to speak freely that supercedes any media outlet. we have created a capacity to broaden our awareness to global scale, at a pace which has never been possible in human history.
anyone seen 'massive change' at the museum of modern art in chicago or anywhere else? everyone should check it out!
