I NEVER call out of work, unless my son is sick and I can't find anyone to watch him, which is rather rare. However, today I'm calling out because I've been sicker than crap since Sunday.

I have this nasty flu/cold (constant coughing, fucked up nasal passages, no sleep, etc.) which is worse than any nasal-ish flu I've ever had. I've taken several different medicines and NOTHING helps. It's rediculous.

My boss better let me off. I've been working all week, hiding in the corner blowing my nose, coughing so bad that I've even had coughing fits at my tables (I'm a server during the day). You'd think they'd send me home, but we've been short staffed and I need the Holiday cash, so they haven't.

But fuck it. If I keep it up, I won't get any better.

I've been carrying a roll of toilet paper around with me religiously for my poor nose.

I hear ya bitcha. I've also called in sick today for the first time. I've had times that I went home sick, but today I didn't even feel I could make the effort to show up. I did work yesterday and already felt ill and I nearly fell over and I even felt so bad at one point that I burst into tears. (n)
Also because I knew I couldn't go home sick because there were already too few of us and it was a very busy day.
Actually it's silly, but I never dare to call in sick because I feel I'm letting my colleagues down, but on the other side, they call in sick when they've got a bit of an itchy bum or whatever and I have to do all of their work...

Anyhows, I hope you (well, we) get well soon.

I had to work 16 hours today because the dishwasher called in sick and I couldn't get a replacement in. I doubt he was sick though. I'm pretty sure he was just pissed that he had to work yesterday when it was supposed to be his day off so he called in sick today to be spiteful. He's called in sick from a bar before, so I have a bit of a trust issue with him right now. He's a friendly guy and does a decent job though, so I'd hate to see him fired, but I don't put up with that shit from anyone.

My old boss used to throw fits when people called off. Even when it's legit and he can see that you're sick.

Fuck that, we got sick hours and they're ours to use.

I hope you get well soon Bitcha.

i have called in sick once at my job, one day only, and that's because my doctor made me (i had strep throat). here and there i take a day off, but i use a vacation day.

i'm going to have to start calling in soon, because i'm starting to accrue too many sick hours, and after so many, they don't roll over year to year.
