Chelsea is currently better, I hope Bayern drops out in the next round, cause they are RICH BASTARDS, and I hope those corrupt Italians drop out soon, too.

Auckland city taking this bitch. I don't think that's the same team that embarrasses itself on a weekly basis in the A League. those are the Knights and unfortunately they're supposed to represent our whole country.
Gareth

auckland city FC

Well, Auckland City is already out. That was obvious.

Is this thing running every year now? Does it still have that group stage or is it just a straight knock out?
Junker
12-11-2006, 02:14 PM
Yeah, every year now since last year.
There's no group stage. Here's the deal. The 'Copa Libertadores da América' and 'Uefa Champions League' champions have guaranteed places in the semi-finals.
Then the 4 others continental champions play against each other to reach the semi-finals.

0:4 ain't that bad against a squad that most likely costs in excess of 8 times as much as them...

I don't know.
And the team is from Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul (http://midia.brasilviagem.com/img/mapa_regiao_2.gif). The southest state in Brazil.

I'll be going there next year to visit my mad buddy Marcelo... What's a good time to go?

Correct (y)
Porto Alegre has 2 big teams: Internacional and Grêmio. Ronaldinho started his career on Grêmio and Internacional was his 'arch rival' team. Now he'll face them again.

how did they decide what teams would play Barca? becuase Sydney FC won the A League this season, and as far as i know there was no such team as Auckland FC. plus the kiwi team that plays in the A League, New Zealand Jets, is absolutely shithouse
Junker
12-14-2006, 10:25 AM
I think you might have a continental championship as well...

hmm, prolly, i cant imagine how auckland got in tho. the way fifa decides zones is ridiculous. you know we had to battle it out against uruguay to get into the world cup? that's bullshit considering north america gets 2 spots in the world cup when there's a grand total of 3 countries to take up those 2 spots
Junker
12-14-2006, 10:48 AM
Agreed!
I dont know why the fifth south american place has another chance. Fucking unfair!

which south american teams got thru for this world cup? brasil, argentina, paraguay and venezula right? am i forgeting anyone? australia may not be the greatest team in the world, but we're better than any asian team, and shouldn't have to play middle eastern or south american teams to get thru to the world cup. if we have a player who can get 4 goals in a game then should automatically get thru to cup
