Barry Bonds. Fuckin' Barry Bonds, man. (n)

And STUPID STUPID GIANTS. Idiots.

No one else even wanted Bonds. So with zero options, Bonds manages to get his one-year asking price up to 16 million dollars. What idiot can't negotiate that?

Where's William Hurt when I need him. "How do you fuck that up!?"

Supposedly, he's still going to be able to decide for himself which games he plays, so the Giants can't even just have him do duty as a reliable designated hitter. No idea what those people were thinking. There budget for new hires was something like $20 million. So they spend $16 on a bitter, spoiled, injury-prone old shit with a dubious history and future. What idiots, man.

The sad thing is that he is chasing an esteemed all-time home run record held by a real gentleman Hank Aaron. He will surpass the record and he won't even get credit. There will be a huge asterik next to his name. I don't know what happened to Barry....... his father Bobby Bonds is a class act.

They never sellout. The SF fans are sick of his act.

I don't think he's going to make it. Something in my bones tells me he's just not going to get there.

The past 2 seasons are the first that have not been all sell-out games. Definitely a big result of his AND their performance as of late. Regardless of what I personally think of him, he's still one of the best ballplayers that I will ever experience live in a great ballpark in my lifetime.

The All-Star Game is in SF in 2007, so I'm sure the 1-year contract had something to do with that.

He's arguably the greatest player of all time -- asterisk or not. The Giants still had the 3rd highest attendance in the league the last two years. Barry's chase will fill more seats. He's not half the player he once was but still, he can hit better than most. With the ridiculousness of contracts this year, there weren't really better options. And the $16 M is also an attempt to not insult him, so he might actually not be a malcontent.

Despite the feelings in your bones, a-z, the National League doesn't allow designated hitters. Something tells me you don't really follow baseball.

I'm a fan of Barry's and the Giants. Most great players don't finish with the teams for whom they played the most games -- even Mr. Aaron. BTW, Bobby Bonds was blacklisted by the media as being a malcontent, so that's a bit of where Barry got his attitude.
