Aw hell, who am I kidding? Even though presumably he'd lose in a landslide (that's even under the insane scenario that he'd get the Democratic nod) that would make McGovern, Goldwater, and Mondale look good, we all know he'd be an awesome Prez. (y)

kucinich is such a good man, definitely a democrat worth supporting. i give this man so much respect for calling the democrats out, and chiding them for being republican-lite. with both major parties beholden to the military-industrial complex, i doubt there will ever be a department of the peace. however if it's a dem administration in '08, ie obama, i'd love to see him as secretary of state, ie someone who is pragmatic and open to discussion, as opposed to an angry right-wing prick bent on confrontation and playing the war/bomb your ass card.

Can y'all either link or explicate Kucinich's "awesome" ideas so those of us who have little knowledge of his positions and background can peruse his "spectacular" abilities, insights, and overwhelmingly stupendous humanity for ourselves?

For starters, there's The Department of Peace (http://www.thepeacealliance.org/).

Yeah, he's some dangerous peace-mongering hippie, but I got a feeling this whole peace thing is popular with the kids.

You guys should let him run Canada. If he works out there, we might consider. Let's make Canada our test bed of sorts. Now THAT'S a freakin good a idea! (y) :)

Sure. After that, we'll send him back to America in a maple syrup-mounted coup! (y)

If that can happen, I sure as hell hope so!

Not gonna happen for Obama this race. He's too young, inexperienced. Most I'm hoping for is VP. I agree with my ex-history prof, Gore/Obama would be a palpable, good ticket.

Even though I actually disagree with Kucinich on a lot of issues, I would vote for him, just because of what a good person he seems to be.

What he did with Cleveland and the power companies is impressive for a politician.

Guys, do I have to keep bringing up Kennedy? Kennedy was "too young" and "inexperienced" (and he was Catholic... *gasp* ) and he won.

Believe in miracles. ;)

But he was elected during a time of free-lovin' hippie peace and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. There were two different mentalities of the people during these time periods. The mentality of people nowadays is "Don't rock the boat" for the most part. I could hope that this anti-Bush sentiment will continue and grow and they could actually think outside the box and hire a liberal African-American, but it'd have to take a lot. Especially if they put a moderate Republican up against him.

And PS, how did Kennedy leave office? Should we expect the same of a similar candidate?

john f. kennedy was not elected 'during a time of free-lovin' hippie peace and crosby, stills, and nash'. kennedy was elected in 1960, right on the heels of the eisenhower administration and the ultra-conservative 50s. the counterculture of that era didn't break out until about '65, giving rise to the '67 summer of love. both kennedy and nixon were moderates, and the kennedy administration implemented a massive arms build-up.

ahahaha I got my dates mixed up. Sorry, folks.

Still, the election between Kennedy and Nixon were extreeeemely tight. Those watching on TV said Kennedy had won the debates, those listening to the radio said Nixon had won. Kennedy squeezed by. He did defeat the odds, but the question is can we do it again? And it's true that only one or two Catholics have been elected president, but I feel like it'll be MORE of a feat to have a first African-American as president. He's just got a lot working against him. Plus, senators have had a terrible time getting elected, anything he does and doesn't vote for will be held against him.

Kennedy is still the only Catholic POTUS.

I can hear them all singing Kumbaya as the jackboots trample them into dust.

What a crock.
