Peepshow is also on the menu... It's supposed to be the second-bestest after Jam, I hear tell.

The Fast Show, Brass Eye, Peep Show
Absolutely. Don't bother with Little Britain first, maybe later. I couldn't take to The Mighty Boosh because by the time I saw it I had already tired of it because my friends would spill out quotes it constantly and they never tickled me. It might well be different seeing as you're new and all that.

TTBB has some funny characters - the seeping boobs and the 'l'm shy' woman are great.
Nighty night is ace - I have both series on dvd and was rewatching them on Sunday....

every year at the local artfag center they have the British Advertising Awards that one can purchase tickets to view. I have been, and a lot of the ads are pretty clever. The funny part is, if someone contacted the artfag center about playing American Advertising Awards they would scoff and tell them to contact Fox. Ironically, almost all the ads are for products like Playstation or McDonalds. Being British means you're cultured apparently

here is what you should watch.
nathan barley, the mighty boosh, dark place, brass eye, peep show and the fast show for sure. maybe some shooting stars, but that's a game show. alan partridge, the day today.
the most recommended of those are the fast show and brass eye. genius (y)

Spaced.
Amen.
Watch spaced and you'll see that every new sitcom is shite in comparison.
Nathan Barley is pretty funny too, although it is mostly watched by the idiots it mocks. Hope you're not one of them.
And Shooting Stars isn't really a game show, as the points make no sense whatsoever, the answer make no sense whatsoever, and most things are acted and planned out beforehand. It's fooking funny though.
The episode with Jarvis Cocker and the kitten. <3

Damn I thought no one would say "Spaced" and I'd look all cool...
Check out Black Books as well, it's class.

Yesss! Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey <3
First series is abit weird though. Has it's moments, but not as good as series 2. And series 2 is not near as good as series 3.
But you should get the DVD and listen to the commentaries. Better than all 3 series put together!
IT Crowd is also quite funny. Also by Graham Linehan, same writer as Black books. And it has Chris Morris. And Richard Ayoade is my new favourite sitcom guy.

I've just barely gotten into Black Books...brilliant shit, there. My best friend is obsessed with all things British, especially comedy, so she got me into it. She just gave me some of Dylan Moran's stand up too that i need to listen to.
The first episode of Black Books, well the first half of the episode felt very sitcomy to me, but after that it's quirkiness came through and now I love it.
The other day I couldn't find a bottle of rum I had bought and I was looking through my dirty laundry basket...I felt like Bernard.

The first episode of series 3 with Simon Pegg from Shaun of the Dead - oh my god, that was hilarious.

Because I tend to work/go out most fridays which is when Channel 4 ran Spaced and Black Books I never saw them on TV, just picked them up later on DVD.
The triple disc Black Books set is well worth getting. Series 2 is my favourite.

the IT crowd was one of the worst things ever made, so don't go near that.
if you want Irish humour as well, go for Father Ted, one of the greatest sit-coms ever made

You're just scared, friction-burns ass.
little britain is like britain's mad TV, i think...it just does the same jokes over and over and over. it's funny the first time you see it, but they never come up with any new stuff, they just re-use the old punchlines. i don't get it.
what about coupling? i like coupling

Shaun of the Dead is literally "Spaced" Series 1 Episode 3 fleshed out into a film, which is a British comedy that isn't The Office, so take that.
I just found out that "The Mighty Boosh" existed thanks to YTMND.
What the heck.
I like it though.

So yesterday I watched the first 3 episodes of Spaced, which was funny. I'm guessing it's a bit older, I like the main character of course, he's a lot like me except he can hold a job for some time... His mate Mike and landlady make for nutso characters. I like the downstairs neighbour best, cause he was afraid of his own painting... :D Great acting. Lots of references. Nice! (y)
I also watched 4 episodes of peepshow. Decidedly darker, but after seeing Monkey Dust, I was expecting pedo humour as the central theme of any brit tv show, ok most of them. Anyway, the gang of kids calling the tie guy a pedo is funny as a recurring theme. This show has great camerawork and as many arseholes as the real world. I'm gonna watch all of these first before starting on Office and Jam.(y)
