I guess Kramer and Mel Gibson are exposing some sad truths about racism in American in the year 2006.

Alot of racists don't want to consider themselves 'racist'.

"I'm not racist, but black people are not as smart as white people..."

I have a friend who says he's not racist, he makes fun of all races equally. Funny how I never see him making jokes about white people though....

is it racist to think most white people are racist?

we all are prejudice against one group or another...

It would only be racist if you didn't acknowledge the fact that other groups can be racists as well.

What's key about this trend is that despite lots of progress, racism is now so under the surface, we're not even conscience it happens to us (or that we may perpetuate it).

See, I think it's racist once its said with maliciousness or intended hurtfulness, which would not be the case if someone who was a part of said race was the one who was commenting (seeing as how they're a part of what is being generalized about). You can't really be racist against yourself, so it's one of those double standards of "If white people say white people are racist, it's not racist, but if a minority says it, it could be taken differently given the context."

Either way, I don't think most white people are racist...till I visit the south, that is. :p

Sure you can be. There have been many who grew up ashamed of their respective race.

Yeah, yeah, I know. There's always gonna be those Clayton Bigsbys, the black and blind white supremecists out there. Still, it remains that if I hear someone white saying "Whites are racist," I'm going to interpret it differently. It depends on the tone and shit too, but most of the time when I hear whites saying it, it's said in shame and sorrow. It depends on the context, but hearing it in passing, most whites would only get upset when hearing it from a minority because it can be interpreted as being a nasty comment whereas the idea of it being malicious may not even pass through their minds if they were the same race as the person making the comment.

it isn't race, but close. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16095716/)

Many neighborhood residents claim they have nothing against Muslims and are more concerned about property values, drainage and traffic.

^I agree with that. I think Richards is a fucking moron and tried to lash out with the meanest thing he could think of because he was so full of rage, but still. You don't do that if you're a professional comedian who's been in the business for years and years.

It probably didn't help his cause to have Gibson come out and say "I feel your pain" and act like they're in the same category, though.

I think Michael Richards has some mental/psychological problems, most likely. I listened to his apologies on the Jesse Jackson radio show and I'm convinced he's truly sorry. There probably is some hidden racism he's not proud of, but I get the impression he wants to better himself.

As for Mel Gibson, I don't think he's sincere and he believes the hate speech he spouts.

I saw a clip of him talking to Anderson Cooper on CNN. He's all nonchalant and "it's not my problem" if there are still people who don't believe his sincerity. He didn't same to care at all, and came off as a real douche. He just said: "I'm keeping my side of the street clean."
