My coworker's getting on a very bad pet peeve of mine. Obnoxiously loud crunching noises. She chews on ice. All day. 8 hours a day, shoveling more and more ice into her mouth and crunching it. I can hear it grinding in her molars. Everything is quiet except for the sound of teeth crushing ice. The noise itself really bothers me, and it's just so LOUD! She does it every day too. This is driving me insane. I'm trying my best to ignore it but it's starting to hurt my brain. :(

I have two major pet peeves.

1). chewing with ones mouth open...loudly. It sounds like a dog washing himself.

2). mumbling, and when asked what was said, saying "nothing" or "its not important"....then dont fucking mumble, asshole. The second one especially...it annoys the shit out of my dad as well so I think its genetic

Yeah, mouth noises in general kinda get on my nerves.

I can't block this out anymore. I have to put on my mp3 player and headphones. I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to, in case someone comes in or whatever. But if I don't do it I'm going to stab her.

people who chew on ice all day are usually doing that to keep from eating food all day and getting all fat all day.

she's just being annoying chewing ice to keep from becoming an 'annoying fat girl', ya dig

Ask her nicely to close her big horse mouth and stop munching on things because she sounds like a god damn woodchipper.

Say it with a please, you catch more flies with honey.

I love chewing on ice. But I don't do it all the time. Bad habit. But I can understand why someone would want to all the time.

Sucks that she is rude enough to do so though.

I actually think it's cuz she's a heeaaaavy smoker. When she runs out of ice, she chews on cough drops. I remember my friend who's a heavy smoker would chew on cough drops because they soothed her throat. I'd think that would be a sign that she should quit, once it makes your throat raw enough that it hurts all the time. :-/

...I have to admit, I chew on ice. Whenever I can get any.

I can't help it. I have an addiction.:(

Walk up to her and go, "Owe, my freaking ears :("

It's a gift.

I make fart sounds with my mouth at work a lot. I wonder if it's annoying. I also go, "ehhhh, wehhh" like a whiny baby. I'm pretty sure that's annoying.

not as bad as crunching though.

Problem solved, she's getting fired.

Not because of the ice. Because she's a terrible employee and shows up late and takes time off when she's not allowed to and doesn't do her job correctly and doesn't ask questions and sends out wrong answers to our clients, IF she even bothers to do her job at all. She's been yelled at time and again and STILL is screwing up left and right. And then today she called in to say she's just going to be "bumming around with her dad" all day. What kind of excuse is that?!

But anyways yeah. Interesting how that problem was solved.

actually the first time i heard the term thru one of my housemates i thought it was a ridiculous term, prolly coz he has a hatred towards a tedious subject. it's much easier to say, 'something that really pisses me the fuck off is'

Yeah right wait till Jesse Jackson gets word of this....it's clearly a case of discrimination you may want to just stear clear for a while.

Meanwhile this lady that is a few desks down from me brings in like some kind of Ovaltean type crap that she mixes up ever hour or so. The sound of the damn spoon clanging against the mug drives me insane. I think I'm going to throw a stapler at her head!

Actually our asses are covered because we have a 90-day review thing. Up until 90 days your employment is "at-will" meaning they can fire you at any time, for any reason (and not have to give it to you), and there's nothing you can do about it. In order to get a job, you have to sign that sheet of paper saying you understand and accept the terms and conditions. BOO-YAH!

I'm past the 90-days so I have job security now. At my review, they told me I kick major ass.

I realized I have another bad pet peeve from coworkers. My new one (been here since late December) hijacks conversations. She'll interrupt me, change the convo around so she can contribute, and talk. Example:

"It's absolutely ridiculous that people think that Democrats don't support the troops because they don't support the war. I mean, did he hear all those times I was saying how stupid this war is because my FRIENDS are going to die? It's really dumb how--"

"You know, you're right. It is a tragedy that kids are going and dying. My generation had the same thing to deal with, Vietnam. I had a few friends who were sent over there, as a matter of fact, at least 5 didn't return because..."

It's bad enough I'm interrupted and even if I keep talking to finish my thoughts, she'll just talk over me, but to change it around so you can't return to the point you wanted to get out is super annoying and makes me pissed. Like, I have no release of what was upsetting me. Like getting walked in on by your mom when you're having a wank and you have to stop. Mental blue balls, I suppose.

This thread must be driving you sort batty, what with all the topic changing comments on gum, nose whistling, mouth farts and whatnot.

Stay on topic folks, let's just stay on topic.

Should ice be allowed to stay in the mouth if it melts slowly or always spit right back in the cup?

Your company should institute a "Straws Only" policy. I bet moral and productivity increases.

Next time she does does it just look her dead in her eye and say loudly and firmly, "AS I WAS SAYING BEFORE I WAS RUDELY INTERRUPTED...." and then pick right up where you left off.

If it happens again then threaten her with physical violence (sorry but I am not a diplomat).
