And this would be your cue to tear the list to shreds...

I am as big a fan of The Roots as one would care to encounter, but Game Theory sucks. Plus John Mayer and My Chemical Romance = lol.

I'll be honest. So far I've only read through the first few entries, but...

RHCP at #2? I'm sorry, I love(d) them dearly but there's no way that was a #2 album. It had no business being a double album, and the songs ranged from decent to average.

the majority of my fav albums are on there. Missing to me are The Streets, The Flaming Lips and Secret Machines.

Skimmed through all 50 albums. All things considered, they kinda minimized embarrassments. Oh sure, they put on a Sean Lennon album (and RS isn't allowed to say anything bad about '60s offspring  ), but I won't knock 'em for placing Cat Power, The Hold Steady, Goldfrapp and other peeps. Heck, they put that "Tropicalia" compilation here!

But if Mick Jagger or Hootie & The Blowfish cut albums this year, we'd be singing a different tune. :p

That list wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would have been. The top 10 is surprisingly....decent...ish.

"Stadium Arcadium" at #2!

????????

I love those guys but I've never wanted to edit a record so badly, what a fucking vanity project......could have been a really, really good 13 song record as opposed to this sprawling mess of self-indulgence......jesus,so much of that material should have been cut....Rick Rubin has no balls......(n)

fantastic tour/live show though......

I have a hard time with many of the albums on the list. Bruce Springsteen was at one time firing on all cylinders, his tribute to Pete Seeger is pleasant and all but hardly worth generating critical rave (and I own the sucky thing), this list is part product endorsement with a few actual innovative albums thrown in.

I'll be listening to Neil's LWW (http://www.neilyoung.com/lwwtoday/index.html) record (as I already have) much much more and longer than RCHP, Bruce, Dylan or any of the other legends on that list.

The only thing keeping me from going completely ballistic is the fact they gave Girltalk the Night Ripper a nod.
