Hi I use a non geniune copy of xp

without slipstreaming, and bearing in mind how fat I am that I havent installed SP2 yet and its been out for years....is there any clever ways to install SP2 on an existing "non geniune" copy with SP1 or will it require a fresh install?

I hate SP2. It rendered half my old XP games unplayable.

This doesn't really help you (I don't think) but it will help people who are on SP2 but don't want to update with the WGA thing. You can get monthly updates from a piece of software called autopatcher (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=89). You have to go to this site and download the updates each month, though. Freebasser, is there no sp2 updates for your games? My scanner didn't work with sp2 but a little googling got me an updated driver.

somewhere in the addons section of the options of internet explorer there's an ad on called windows genuine advantage or something like that. just disable that. i think they may have fix this though
