I know old people are supposed to die in winter, but why can't it be some other old people, one's that weren't James Brown.
I really expected him to go out big, in some violent haze of PCP. this is kind of a let-down.

I nearly punched the girl who suggested it was AIDS.
edits: We've all got, or have at least heard them, but the songs on triple j's James Brown mixtape (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/music_specials/s1562883.htm) made my night at work all the sweeter. In 05 he headlined the festival that the Beastie Boys will headline next February. Just sayin.

Nice Mix....I own "Star Time" the James Brown box-set (It Will Take You Years to Understand This Much Funk), it is the best musical purchase available on planet earth. The The-Breaks.com. (http://www.the-breaks.com/) is impossible to reach through the front door so I used the back.....James Brown is the #1 most sampled (http://www.the-breaks.com/perl/stats.pl) man on the planet(903 times)!
Enjoy that celebrity hot tub up in the sky James.

I got the Bootsy Collins Christmas album and listened to it Xmas Eve. I had no idea the significance -- nor did Bootsy -- when mentioned James Brown.
The Associated Press story credited him as a pioneer of RAP, SOUL, FUNK, DISCO.

Guess Nas will use the song "Where R they Now" as his new single (samples James Brown). RIP his influence is without a doubt (Prince, MJ etc)
