Sunday I was invited to a couple parties (both in the same town, about 5 miles from my village) for New Years Eve. One was a family type thing where we had dinner and the other was not too far away from the other party. After dinner we all got drunk and then I left about 10pm to hit the other party which was strictly drinking and partying like that. I had only been to the house a couple times though so I accidentally rang the wrong doorbell (a lot of houses over here look exactly the same and are attached to each other) and this Polish chick comes down and I ask her if my boy was here (because I didn’t recognize her) and she said no and I ask her which house does the American live in and she didn’t know but she was like “We are having a Polish party and I want you to come see, please” and I thought it was strange but I went up with her and there were about 15 Polish people in their 20’s sitting around drinking and when I walked in everyone’s face lit up like “Oh shit!!! Look who it is!!!” and I sit down and they immediately start explaining their Polish food and traditions. Apparently if they were back in Poland, they wouldn’t be drinking but they would be eating with family and then at midnight they would go to church but since none of them were with their family, they were partying together (being in the military I understood completely) then one girl starts laughing and talking in Polish and the other Polish start laughing too and they explain that it’s Polish tradition to leave an empty plate at the table in case a stranger/visitor comes by and that in all their lives, they have never ever used the plate! Then they said it was pretty special. I was having a blast and then around 11:30pm I was thinking that I had to find my friends because the plan was to party at my boy’s house and then head to a club down the street until 2am and then back to his house to continue partying, about then I hear a bunch of American’s outside and look out the window and it’s my friends and I yell at them. “TONY! What are you doing over there?!?!?” “I’m partying with the Polish!!! What’s it look like!!!??!?” ….. the house I was looking for was right next door and I didn’t hear shit (so I guess I ended up at a better party after all) then I ask the Polish if they want to come with us but they said they had beef with a few of the locals at the club we were heading too. Then they all wanted to take a picture with me, which was nice and we all swapped cell phone numbers and I was off. After the club we kept partying at my friend’s house but I went and got the Polish folks and it was really cool. The next day all the Polish people I met sent me text messages wishing me a Happy Christmas. I was impressed, it was a really nice way to break in Xmas.:)

What's that? They kept giving me food for the entire time I was there. It was great but, I was already stuffed from the party I was at earlier. They had a lot of mushroom dishes. They also said that they don't eat meat on Christmas Eve.

Yeah they were awesome! One funny thing though was they were drinking some Polish beer and I tried to pronounce the way the label was written on the bottle and I prounounced it "TSYTSKIE" which made them all crack up because apparently that's another word for "titties"(y) Then they taught me the proper way to pronounce "Janikowski" (only the best kicker in the NFL... which we all agreed on). I loved it! (y)

Perogies (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/cd/Ruskie.jpg/250px-Ruskie.jpg)

They're little pockets of dough with meat and cheese stuffed into them, then fried. Served with sour cream and bacon bits. THEY'RE SO GOOD. I'm so buying an industrial-sized bag this weekend because they're quite possibly the best drunk food EVER.

Great story Tone(y)

I wish I could hang out at a Pole Pool Party with Polish Pole dancers prancing around proudly in pretty pink panties.
