this thread has prolly been done 100 times before but oh well

my dad has been crazily into bikes most of his life and that rubbed off to me and my brother. my dad has had a fascination for spanish bikes in particular. he went to europe in 1992 for 10 months, partly for the Barcelona olympics, but mainly to see the moto GP's in spain and portugal.

anyway, my brother and i have a Yamaha YZ250 01' model, which is great fun but i never get the chance to ride it these days. i do miss that beast

also, when i was 19 i had a 99 model YZF R1. for those of you who know what that is, well it's a ridiculous bike that has more horsepower than the amount of kilo's it weighs. it was a great bike. it could slaughter any car out there, even the most done up skyline, and it still cost less than $10000. in 2005 some fucker ran into it and cracked the ferring and it was written off. my dad never wanted me to get my motorbike licence because a very good friend of his Guido who he lived with for a couple of months when he stayed in Madrid, well he died in a motor bike accident. as a result i just collected the insurance check and never bought a bike again

since moving out of home which was nearly a year ago now i have yet to ride any form of bike. i recommend that everyone here gets doubled with a good rider on a powerful 250cc 2 stroke bike. they're much more fun than any 1000cc 4 stroke crotch rocket.

so anyway, any riders here. correct me if i'm wrong but mp73 likes his bikes?

ps, tzar, the jolt (acceleration of accelerating) from a 2 stroke is like riding in a car with 30 pounds of boost. i recommend you try it out

all joking aside. i've ridden dirt bikes here and there over the course of my life, but not nearly enough.

a couple of years ago on my birthday a friend took me riding (truck and trailer to the track) on his brand spanking new YAMAHA 250. that thing was the fucking balls. on the asphalt i barely popped it out of 2nd and that beast was cat walking for a 1/16 of a mile. i just tapped the back brake and brought it back down. (i'll admit i was a little scared of the horses) i ripped it around this impromptu course and never had to leave second gear.

this dude is a lunatic as is a requirement for this sport. he'd just crack it open and fucking sail. i mean HUGE fucking air, pulling no handers, jesus christs, feet over the bars errrrything.

i've always wanted my own dirt bike. like maybe just a 125 cc to start out.

Yeah I like my bikes, I love my bikes. Sadly without a bike at the moment, trying to decide whether to stick with my current car and get a bike as well, or trade up to a sportier car. My brain says car but my throttle hand says bike:cool:

That's something else I'm considering. Me and this crazy (hot) woman I work with want to get dirt bikes to thrash on our days off.

i think a 125cc+ 2 stroke will always be more fun than any MV Augusta or Hayabusa. the feeling of a 2 stroke compared to a 4 stroke is something that can experienced, not described.

i was bored the first time i went on an R1. at the time i had a 97 CR125 so i knew what the R1 was capable of. it was bloody fast, but any 4 stroke is boring compared to the power band of a 2 stroke. i thought it was hilarous watch the speedo of the R1 go 140, 150, 160 each second and thinking to myself "is that it?"

I've been riding bikes for a while now and am currently riding a Honda VFR 400 NC30. It's the best bike I've ridden - 140Mph ( 225 Kmph), easy to chuck into corners and get your knee down. Mines a 1989 bike and is currently up for sale to fund the purchase of a slightly newer Honda RVF 400.

The bikes I've rode previously are:

Aprilia RS 125 - nice quick sporty little 33 bhp 125cc 2 stroke

Yamaha XVS Dragstar 125 - only a 125cc but looks like a 600. Nice deep engine note and very comfortable to ride but only 17 bhp so shit for any sort of hill

Yamaha XVS 650 Dragstar - Nice 650cc cruiser - very comfortable to ride but not very fast and VERY heavy

Suzuki GSXR 600 - one of the best sports bikes available - better than the 750 version

Yamaha R6 - again - very enjoyable

And my current VFR

I stopped driving to concentrate on riding bikes - even in rain and winter.

Love it.....

do you prefer the R6 over the suzuki? i'd like to get a hayabusa but i enjoyed my r1 alot more.
if i get another bike it'll be an F4S or nothing. i'm over jap bikes. my dad's mid life crisis vehicle was one of them and after riding it i cant imagine a better bike. pl say it's overpriced italian crap, but yeah, it's obvious they've never seen one in motion let alone riden one

And I hope to get my first one by about June next year. No idea what to get or anythin though seeing as how I don't know anything about them

But yeah I've wanted one for years and seeing as I'll have a job in a few weeks I'll save all my money for one.
you live at samford and you've never riden a bike? wow that's a first

ok, i really don't get this at all. is it your paranoia alarm where you think that because i work with dudes, they must be hitting on me? it is it that you are thinking that i'd be thinking "uh oh, he shouldn't be hanging out with a chick from work" or what?

splain.

(edit: and no, i can't ask him. he's sleeping and i'll forget as usual.)

I prefer the shape and lines of the R6 but the engine of the gixxer.
