I got a pretty great Christmas gift this year....the whole discography of The Beastie Boys! All the major albums plus some rarer stuff that the gift-giver had. So now that I have all the major stuff I've started delving more into those rareties, b-sides, etc.

One thing I've since found (it wasn't part of the gift) was "Original Ill," a bootleg with the original demo versions of all the Licesned to Ill songs, plus "I'm Down" and "The Scenario." Now of course the deleted songs are obvious, but I'm wondering if anyone else knows how much of the rest of it is actually different? I haven't listened to all of it yet, just "Fight For Your Right #2" (which was definitely different) and "No Sleep Til Brooklyn" (I noticed one small difference). Does anyone know how much of it is actually different?

Yeah, and I've listened to Licensed to Ill itself many a time by now. I'm just curious if anyone knows what all the differences are, since I haven't found a list anywhere. Only the changes to "Fight for your Right" are really obvious, other than the reading/wording on "MCA's in the back 'cause he's sleeping with a whore" in "No Sleep." All I've found is the list of which ones are demos and which aren't.

The ending for "Hold it now hit it" seems disjointed - The song ends and then a bit more comes on again.
And in "Rhymin and stealin" there's an added line towards the end - 'Most crackinest B-Boy.... I smoke my crack an I'm rhymin and stealin...' Or something similar.
And the beat in "No sleep till Brooklyn" is heavier.
And of course there's the extra verse in "Fight for your right" and the same song has more guitar.

Why hate? If someone hadn't have given me a copy of Licenced To Ill in '87, my life would be completely different. Besides, what's beautiful about the beastie community is that you don't have to do it "alone." Spread some love and peace.;)

Original Ill is kind of expensive lately. It used to be around a lot but now its getting harder to come by.

Its not really the official album as intended. Its more like they took some demos of tracks that were altered after the fact, added some tracks that were removed from the album, and then filled in the gaps with tracks that are on the albums and put it all together to approximate how the album might have been. Its a cool concept.

I think it's great whatever way you found your way into loving the Beasties. Every fan has a different story on what got them into it all, whether it be bought, given, found or being forced fed!..lol..love is love no matter how you dress it (y)

i listen to this over LTI. The lack of slow ride sucks though, so when i do hear slow ride i get kinda confused.

Are you kidding? Slow Ride ends in the strength of
"All the Fine Ladies are making a Fuss
But I can't pay attention bc I'm on that Dust"
