Yeah. Just in case you wanted to do anything government-related (go to DMV, get mail, etc.), it's a day of mourning for President Ford, and the federal government is shutting down. So it's a long weekend ahead -- get your stuff done now.

yeah forget about trading stocks too, the market is closed. but I'll have to come to work anyway and have nothing to do because my boss is a creep and doesn't want us to have any extra time off while he's on vacation.

There will be no mail, but I don't think the whole government is shutting down. For instance, I heard that federal court is not getting a day off and they will not honor this "holiday" so you have to get your legal mail in tomorrow.

Gerald Ford's death has turned into like a 3-week-long bereavement extravaganza. It's a shame I'll have to wait an extra day to fail my driver's test again.

I really think that local and state government will be working Tuesday. And driver's license places are open tomorrow morning.

the federal government is shutting down.
Actually, Bush stated this morning that only non-necessary federal government agencies will be closed. Bastard.

i love when presidents die. they make it this huge deal, like some great man has just past on. they fly all those beautiful striped red white and blue flags at half mast, dedicate entire days worth of news to how important and wonderful this man was. its marvelous. makes me want to cry *sniff sniffle*
most presidents were a bunch of bitches.

I wonder if banks will be open.
banks can't be shut down 3 days in a row due to some weird ass thing with the federal reserve that i've never bothered to try to learn.
it does not appear my job will be shutting down. i had to check my email, since i called in today because i had to watch the kids (their babysitter couldn't be with them and my baby daddy couldn't tell me until around 10pm the night before, when bobby and i were out to dinner with friends).

They started with President Roosevelt. The most recent was when President Reagan died. But this is the first time a day of mourning has followed a holiday weekend.
President Ford was the oldest living president at age 93. He beat President Reagan by about one month.
