This (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/29/AR2006122901032.html) could give Rocky XII a run for its money.

finally, some substantial news on this project.
I have no worries on this one. Spielberg don't play.
I heard that the original title was "Indiana Jones and the Ravages of Time"
which I find delightfully ironic.

Funny you should mention Rocky, because I can't seem to figure out why Sly Stallone's comeback makes me uncomfortable, yet Harrison Ford's does not. All I can conclude is that I fucking hate those gimps with Bells Palsy.

Harrison Ford'll probably keep his shirt on.
I think the article mentions something about this one being more of a character driven movie, unlike previous films from the series. Maybe it will be more in the vain of a Casino Royale or Batman Returns (and possibly even a Rocky Balboa) type of film.
I think Spielberg "do played" too much with Temple Of Doom then kinda didn't "do play" as much with The Last Crusade. Hopefully he'll "don't play" with this one, though, like he did with Raiders.

With the exception of maybe 1 or 2 of his films, pretty much every Spielberg movie is tainted in some unforgivable manner. It's what makes Spielberg's movie his own. It's his signature, basically. He signs his name in liquid poo.
Spielberg DOES play, nucka.

there are some lame Spielberg flicks but I trust him for the most part.

There's no legitimate reason not to trust Spielberg with another Indy movie; lately he has put out some movies that (depending on your opinion) were not as good as his work in the early 90s, granted. But incredibly special care has been taken on Indy 4, unlike the Jurassic Park series and that piece of dog-doo third movie. I think giving Hollywood's best action/sci-fi director the benefit of the doubt will prove to be a wise move.

Jaws
Close Encounters
E.T.
Raiders
Last Crusade
Jurassic Park
Schindler's List
Minority Report
Catch Me if You Can
these are the reasons to trust Spielberg
and, in my opinion:
A.I.
War of the Worlds
Munich
but those movies aren't as universally accepted.

ps, this is the same thing Lucas says every other week so let's just wait and see if the movie even gets off the ground finally.

I was half expecting something along the lines of "Indiana Jones: Generations", where we get to meet Indy's son who will play in a new series of movies.
I was thinking how funny it would be if Indy's kid was conceived with the Nazi woman in Last Crusade but I forgot she died. Although... she did have the holy grail down there with her... Hmmm...

If that does turn out to be the plot to the new movie then I'm SO going to sue.

Jaws
Close Encounters
Raiders
Sugarland Express
the first half of the WWII movie
the first 1/3 of AI
and I realize they're good but I never want to see them again:
E.T.
Schindler's List
I could see Spielberg making another decent Indy movie even though I disliked the sequels thus far. He's a far more interesting guy today than he was in the mid to late 1980s (schlock schlock schlock). If only he had someone to reign him in -- and that's not going to be Lucas (who hasn't done anything good since the early 1980s.

Is ET in that list because it's scary?

Saving Private Ryan rules. I see no liquid poo penmanship written anywhere on that movie.
I'm quite excited for Indy, to be honest. It's really the only film epic with multiple installments that doesn't irritate me.

Saving Private Ryan rules.
I got that for Christmas and I've already watched it twice, along with the Band of Brothers series.

man we've been waiting forever on this. Is Sean Connery in too or was that just the rumor?
and I know this is stating the obvious and overused comment but, they are so old. I wonder how this is going to play out.

Keith Richards is playing the dad, if I remember correctly. ;)
Well, let's see. They're going to have to make it take place probably between the mid-'50's to mid-'60's.
If it really is a character thing, it's pretty much gotta be about faith somehow. That was the thing Temple screwed up -- how could Indy say in Raiders that he didn't believe in all that "hocus pocus mumbo jumbo" when he'd already seen everything in Temple of Doom?
Though maybe the leap of faith in Crusade was supposed to have been the conclusion of that arc. I don't know. It seems like maybe the next step would be something involving the afterlife...?

I had a similar thought while watching Last Crusade but substituting Raiders with Last Crusade and Temple of Doom with Raiders of the lost ark :D

Raiders was before Temple :)
But Temple takes place before Raiders. That alone was screwy enough -- you knew he was never in real jeopardy, because he lived to see the events in Raiders.

Yeah. I remember sitting in the theater and that first dateline came onscreen, and I was like, "What the fuuuuuuck?"

Yes, Temple was a prequel. And it wasn't as good as Raiders or Crusade.
Sean Connery is rumored to be in it.

Yeah. I remember sitting in the theater and that first dateline came onscreen, and I was like, "What the fuuuuuuck?"There is no reason for it to be a prequel. Very very strange.
Had never noticed it either. Could be because I saw Temple when I was around twelve and didn't see Raiders until years later.
