you can make pasta, the child will eat the pasta. if you're not sure if she likes sauce, leave a little pasta without sauce out in a bowl for the child. proceed otherwise as you wanted. :)

Pasta is good but quite messy...they tend to get it all in their hair, up their nose and all around the general areas surrounding them....

The noodles aren't a bad idea but like I said depending on the sauce it could spell a big mess I doubt you mind but if the kid gets all messy it may prompt mom to want to leave early cus baby is messy and she's embarassed.

Second you gotta think more happy mealish...like i said chicken nuggts style and something fun like the animal crackers. For little ones you kinda hafta make eating fun or they lose interest quick. Plus if the kids having fun then mom is having fun ya dig?

well, luckily I've known the mom a while so I don't anticipate things going to hell or anything. I also don't plan on using any kind of thick bulky sauce. I may just kind of coat it with a little butter or something.

I also did think in terms of back-up plan along the lines of the "happy meal-ish" stuff you mentioned.

thanks y'all. I'll let you know how it turns out.

am I correct in the assumption of win over kid then win over mom?

Well obviously you're not the kind of guy who would use a child to get to the mother. I'm sure you genuinely like the kid so just keep it real and show the lil guy or girl some attention. Most kids are impossible to not love anyway so you should be golden. Don't be phoney or anything but yeah if the kid likes you that's big time with the mom. Good luck buddy

thanks man. The kids fascinated with me so far but mainly because I'm 6'5" and when I pick her up it must be like traveling into the stratosphere.

and yeah, I don't mean use her to get to the mom. I'm crazy about both of them.

maybe I'll cancel the poison.

All of Lop's ideas are great.

Are these the two ladies who are in the crush thread?

If so they are both amazingly cute. (y)

As often as you hear the word "toddler" you hardly ever hear someone say that someone is "toddling."

Now I wonder why that is...

Give it fresh vegetables cause most kids don't like cooked ones. Or feed it babies...

Don't listen to the "happy meal"ish talk. Kids will have plenty of time to get exposed to crappy food. While parents still have some say, give the kid food that shows you care. Remember the food pyramid? Go for healthy food.

Pasta -- macaroni or penne with some tomato sauce on the side (we call it dipping sauce).
Vegetable -- steamed broccoli or green beans are usually big winners.
Protein -- vegetables have some, plus cut up chicken breasts to mix with pasta.
Snacks -- cheese is always good.
Beverage -- milk or water.
Dessert -- fruits like apple, banana, pear, grapes.

yeah, so they came over and it was so fantastic. the little girl was asleep when they arrived but she quickly woke up and began dismantling my apartment. I was worried about her and the dog so I put the dog in my room but she kept wondering over to the door to my room and pointing with this concerned look on her face.

the most "awwwww" moment was when every single time her mother would attempt to take a bite of food, she'd literally grab it off the fork in mid air and hand a handful of pasta and broccoli to me. If I didn't take it right away- she'd eat it.

The little girl also folded her blanket up and gave it to me and wouldn't take it back which, as her mom told me, is a big deal because it's apparently HER blanket etc.

however, I still have no idea where I stand. if anywhere.

but the fact that she came and brought her daughter seems pretty big to me.
