Okay so perhaps I have obsessive tendencies but generally when I am reported anything suspicious, I look into it. I sort of blame my job for setting this off.
I recently purchased a Wii off of ebay for a very reasonable price. Had the sellers reputation not been as good as it was, I would have figured it to be bullshit.
Now, Im not so sure. I told the person to contact me by Saturday with shipping details. Well, Sunday rolls around and I get an email from his "wife" saying he was in a car accident and is in the hospital and she is unsure if it shipped or not.
I sent one back that said "Sorry to hear about this, however I need either shipping confirmation or the package by Wednesday or I will file a complaint", to which she replied that her husband was "in and out of consciousness from painkillers" and she couldnt get his paypal password.
First off, Im sorry but if this car accident was as severe as claimed, her first priority wouldnt be to email people off of ebay regarding the situation unless instructed to do so. Secondly, assuming she WAS instructed to do so, why would her husband leave out important details like...status of shipments, etc etc.
I dunno, it annoys me when people try to fuck with me and its pissing me off.

Sounds like an obvious scam to me. There's only one thing for it: go to the hospital and break his legs. If they're already broken, smash his fingers with a hammer. (y)

thats how I feel but I figure I should be a little touchy when approaching it from a "fuck your injuried husband" approach assuming it may possibly be legit.

if its a legit problem, then a complaint followed through from ebay won't cause any real harm since they "should" be able to get to the bottom of the problem...right?

yeah thats my thought.
I just noticed dude put auctions up for sale on ebay on sat night around 9. Assuming he was in this HORRID car accident, how would that even be possible? The post office closes at 2 on Sat.

Perhaps he's hospitalized because he got the crap beaten out of him by someone he stiffed on ebay?

its been fine in the past usually.
that reminds me of the time this uh friend of mine ordered a dildo from arse ticklers' faggots fanclub, and they said that they couldn't fill the order because the supplies didn't come in from america, so they sent him the check back, only he can't cash it because he doesn't want his banker to know that he tickles arse when he's not paying in checks

That's annoying as all hell.
And what kind of pathetic loser uses a false accident to cover their mistakes? Morons always tell me at work how they need to get discounts on items because their sister has cancer, I just wish I could send them a virus.

You're probably right, if he really does have a wife and isn't just posting as her then why would she have time for trivial stuff like answering e-mails when he's in the hospital?
I got my Wii from the store when it launched but a good sure fire way to know if he at least had it was if he had his user name with the picture of the Wii like Ebay tells people to do.
You can always file a claim to get you're money back at least. I paid $15 for a record once and it wasn't enough money for Ebay to give me a refund for the dead beat seller, you're lucky you paid a lot, go figure

COULD be a scam but there is a possibility it could be true.I'm waiting on some goods I bought back in November I need to chase up.My history with buying stuff and getting it on time or quick has been OK so far but good luck on that one(y)

I use Ebay a lot and the only time I remember having problems was when this guy was supposed to send me a record but shut down his business.
I filed a claim, he responded he had it ready to ship and needed my address (which I already gave him), I sent it to him and I still never got it.

Every time you get a good deal, there is always some relative that gets in a car accident and the eBayer falls off the face of the Earth for 30 days.

so what happened
Seller told me a bunch of various stories about no access to paypal, etc. Finally I got annoyed and reported it to paypal, which froze the users account. Since this person sells stuff on ebay regularly, they of course suddenly made it a priority to correct the problem since they couldnt use their shit until my money was refunded.
Found another seller a week later with a good deal. Requested photos of said Wii with username and timestamp on picture. Had 100% feedback, so I bought from him. Was shipped in two days.
