Okay bitches I'm too lazy to read the resolutions thread but since we're well into 2007 now I'm curious how many of you have already broken yours? Me? So far I'm almost 18 hours w/out a smoke. I don't know if I'll make it or not but we'll see.

How much are smokes in La now? They're 7-8 bucks a pack here in NY and that's enough to make someone quit.
I'm thinking of buying some nicorette since a box of that is about the same price for a carton of smokes.

I was gonna quit smoking on the stroke of midnight and then when it came round I had a cigarette on the go so I was like "fuck it I'll do it next year".

I'm working on close to 2 days or so....I still think I'll wind up breaking it soon. I have the patches but am going to wait till I really start craving to use them. Oh and smokes are only about 3-4 bucks here but I think I saw on the news they're going up like a dollar a pack....or maybe that was in Texas

i lied and said my resolution was to see more penis. apparently this is cute the first time you say this after asking "can i see your penis?" and it gets a smile the second time. the third time, it's ignored.
you do still get to see the penis though.
i forgot to try it today.

Umm okay Beth....
Meanwhile I"m still going strong here on day 3. I did have to bust out the patch yesterday though. It's going to be rough starting today though cus I'm back at work and I hate my job. Sometimes going out for a smoke is all that stops me from choking one of the nerds I work with when they won't stop yammering about their WOW characters...

Mine was to get the fuck outta Maryland, and now I'm in North Carolina. GO ME.
But seriously, I want to move outta Maryland, just for a little.

How close to DC are ya? You couldn't pay me enough to live in that area

Shady Grove, on the red line. (http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/systemmap.cfm)
They pay me enough to live in this area, that's fo sho. Though it's getting super-crowded from people moving here from NY and NJ and such because DC's got a shitload of jobs.
I love the area and I love my job, but I gotta get outta here eventually. Experience new shit. And get away from the congestion, jeez.

Yeah there are a ton of great jobs there...I've looked into some GS and contracting positions but I don't think I could deal with the traffic and the crowds...

I metro in to the city everyday, it's not so bad. I get on the 7:30 AM train at Shady Grove and am pretty much guaranteed a seat...anywhere after that, it's harder to get one.
Living in MD and commuting by train is the best way to go...cheaper, less crowded. I can deal just fine, mang.
If you're military you could get a job where I work pretty damn easily! Come to DC, it'll be fun.

This is officially changing to my Lopp's Non-smoking status thread....
Today is day 4. I don't think the patches were designed for people who are actually active. Last night after biking and lifting the damn thing came right off. This morning I ran 3 miles and it felt pretty good cept now I can't stop sneazing and my nose won't quit running...not sure if it's related to the non-smoking or not. Also I feel the crabbiness coming on...

Stay strong yo.
Day 3 for me. Are you having incredibly vivid dreams while on the patch as well?

You know now that you mention it...I have been dreaming about some fairly wild shit but it is quite vivid almost more like a memory than a dream. Interesting.

People told me that I would have vivid dreams. Shit is wild. If I were a screenwriter I would be on the patch just for the ideas.

I also vaguely recall reading something about experiencing flu like symptoms when trying to quit? I think that's why I started smoking last time I tried to quit cus I got sick....every heard anything like that?

Nah son, I'm not moving to NC. It is teh suck down here, job-wise, and night-life-wise. I might move to Canananadia if I get accepted to grad school this year. So uh, in conclusion, take my spot at my old job!
Former military works just as well as current. My boss now is an ex-Marine and he is rulz. (y)
And as for flu-like symptoms, as your lungs heal you start to cough up nasty black shit because it's being rejected by the cilia growing back. So you'll cough and hack and be phlegmy and gross for a week or two, I hear.
