Didn't Nixon use that word quite a lot?
Not quite old enough to remember that personally, however I am sure it can be found in some transcripts of Nixon's.

So I'm watching W read his scripted remarks at the Ford funeral, and it's all about sacrifice and patriotism. Specifically, Bush is yammering on about how in 1942 Ford up and left Stateside life, signed up for the Navy and volunteered for a combat assignment. All this without a hint of discomfort, embarrassment, anything. I would think that man-child would at least tell the scriptwriters to stick to the postwar Ford. Does the fuckwit have even the slightest glimmer of self-awareness?!?

Did I put a damper on the whole party by not being considerate in my tone?
After seeing the con job Bush & co. put on an actual Presidential candidate who went into combat action during the 2004 election I feel sometimes a bit put off. While others his aged did sacrifice for our country, documentation (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=george+bush+vietnam+years&btnG=Google+Search) shows our current president did not, chose not to and then actually skipped out on his homeland obligations.
I would be lying to say I did not wince when I listened to this part of his eulogy.

Watch enough of his speeches and you'll have a permanent nervous tick.

No.
The fuckwit happens to mention Fords accolades and you turn it into some war bid for a sacrifice for the country. Bush's "yammering" about Ford volunteering his service was a very small part of his speach and can hardly be considered "yammering". Believe me, I was waiting for W to USE THE PODIUM but he didn't. And to bring up W's lack of service too. You sound like a fucking politician.

The thing that really eats me up is the media is now paying attention to this administration and it's war, but being ignored. What is it going to take to wake up this Country?
Bush's determination to chart his own course showcases a lame-duck President increasingly isolated from the American people, his own party and even reality.
snippets from this weeks ed/ops from both conservative & liberal POV's:
White House insiders say the President, never known as a master of the English language, often lapses into disjointed, rambling diatribes against those who question his policies and avoids meetings with any advisors who might disagree with his fantasies.
Bush, they say, spends more and more time alone or in the company of Secretary of State Condi Rice who, along with Vice President Dick Cheney, are the only Bush insiders still supporting a troop increase.
Former Republican Congressman and now conservative TV talk show host Joe Scarborough calls Bush's increasing isolation "Nixon-like," recalling the final days of former President Richard M. Nixon's presidency as the scandals of Watergate closed in. Scarborough also calls Bush "paranoid and delusional."
"I'm growing more disturbed every night by how isolated George W. Bush has become," Scarborough says. "All the Joint Chiefs oppose his plan for Iraq. His lead general opposes his plan in Iraq, and now he's going to quit because Bush has ignored him. Colin Powell opposes his plan in Iraq. And an L.A. Times poll is showing that only 12 percent of Americans support his plan for more troops in Iraq. Shouldn't more Americans be disturbed at this unprecedented example of a White House that's in a bunker mentality?"
Legendary Boston newspaper columnist Mike Barnicle is even more blunt.
"I think you have a president totally isolated from reality, totally delusional, kind of paranoid, figuring that everyone's against him, including his own Joint Chiefs of Staff, figuring that history 30, 40 years from now is going to prove him correct," Barnicle said recently on Scarborough's television show.
"The deaths in this war right now, at this stage in our life, our political life, our national life, and especially if there's a surge in troops in Baghdad -- the deaths of American soldiers verges now on the criminal," Barnicle adds. "And I don't think that's too strong a statement. It verges on the criminal."
Criminal: Strong words. But strong words are necessary in these critical times. So are strong actions. Americans must step up and tell Congress to stop the criminal actions of a deranged President whose loose grip on reality has vanished and whose delusional, paranoid actions threaten not only the safety of this county but peace throughout the world.
The President of the United States is out of control. He must be stopped.

LOL, what the hell is wrong with you? I could care less what you think about my goofy posts. I'm not going to argue with you over my personal POV. I don't even know who you are, but obviously I pushed a button and made an enemy.

Nothing wrong here and not trying to make enemies. Just pointing out that your original post was a bit exaggerated. But maybe it's my fault for not being a sheep and following suit with everything posted on this board.

How is it your fault, you can criticize all you like. I'm just not understanding the reason to defend George Bush on his lack of service to our country. The National Guard stateside during the Vietnam war was a creampuff assignment unless you ended up at Kent State.
The political forum is just that....political....if you think I should be more nuanced and definitive in my posts you have every right. I have the capabilities to actually be a much better writer, I'll take blame for a general overall lower quality of BBMB political section due to my kneejerk reactions to world events.

I'm not defending the W. As a veteran, I find it appauling the way he (un)served his country. I just thought his eulogy was more out of respect than yammering about the sacrifice.
Hope your next half year turns out better, man.
