Hi there,
I live in the UK and I've never visited NYC before. I've been to a baseball game in Candlestick park and I fancy checking out some NBA action when I come over to New York with the family in Feb. Hopefully some of you guys will be based in NYC and will be able to advise me as to how best to get tickets for the New York Nets Vs San Antonio Spurs in New Jersey in february..
Ticket master have tickets on sale now but they look very expensive. I notice that they also have 50% discounted tickets for a game in a few weeks against the Raptors . Will they discount the Spurs tickets nearer the game?
Are there better sources of cheaper tickets?
Cheers people,
if you ever need tips on visiting England ......

it's the New Jersey Nets!
new york has the Knicks!
the raptor tickets are discounted becuase the raptors suck something awful. and teh spurs are one of the elite teams in the league. i doubt the spurs ticks will be discounted

Don't use Ticketmaster -- they suck.
Try Stub hub: http://www.stubhub.com/new-jersey-nets-tickets/?event_id=332259 to buy tickets from fans. The closer to the game you get, the more likely you can get a discounted ticket.

Cheers guys, goes to show how much us english know about your sports eh?So it's the New Jersey Nets, ok thanks! But New Jersey's accessible from New York right?
Oh, and how long do games last? I went to baseball once and the damn thing went on forever!
I'll definitely use that stub hub site ... where's the best place to sit at the Continental Airlines arena?

2.5 hours sounds about right from tip off(it may be less if it's non-televised which doesn't happen much nowadays). that excludes any overtime periods. overtime seems to happen on a regular basis.

Your sports are really long. Our football only lasts 90 minutes. Mind you cricket can go on for 5 days and end up in a draw! Thanks again.

well it's only suppose to be 48 minutes(4 12 minute quarters). but the clock is stopped quite a bit plus all the timeouts.

Don't forget halftime where weirdos from the crowd get to try and win stuff by sinking 3 pointers or mascots perform amazing stunts...ah and let's not forget the cheerleaders
If you go to see the Nets play make sure to wear a paperbag over your head so you will fit in with the crowd.

i'd rather watch vince carter and jason kidd than anyone on the current knicks roster anyway
I was kidding of course. The Nets are a solid team but just can't get over the hump.

I'll have to do my homework before I go see the Nets .. never heard of any of these guys.
If I don't undertand what's going on at least you get to drink beer at your sports ... they don't allow it in England in case we get rowdy and start fighting one another.
