I've only watched the show a couple times and I'm convinced that they must screen every single person they're going to call up there. There are never any normal people up there... always people who are always spastic, quirky, or something just really odd.
Having said that, bionic... if your mom is really that good, I think you should send her and she'll probably get on.

Umm yeah it's for a TV game show of course they do and of course those are the kinds of people they want. Otherwise people wouldn't pay as much attention...

I realize that, but I was under the impression that every single person in the audience has the possibility of going up on the stage... so there's got to be some normal people in the audience. They can't all be idiots. That's what I'm driving at, I guess.

Thankyou Lopp. How could anyone ever think they didn't screen them? It's a TV game show. They're not just going to find someone on the street and let them take up like 30 minutes of airtime. Moron.
EDIT:
Oh you still think they don't screen them. Look, just think about it, OK. Imagine you're a game show producer.

No, it's my understanding that the contestants are already chosen before the show and of course the get to bring along their support team or whatever. The audience is just the audience...it's not like The Price is Right

I apologize for being mistaken about a game-show I've only seen twice. Man, am I ever a moron.

I've never watched a full episode. Yet I realise the plain fact that no game show producer would be stupid enough to devote an entire TV show (which is based on the player's decisions and reactions to them) to a random, previously unseen, potentially incredibly boring audience member.

my boyfriend wants me to apply for the show...but that's just crazyness because I'm no good at making decisions when massive amounts of money are involved. I have a heartattack everytime I watch that show. maybe that's why he wants me to go on it; he's trying to kill me.:(

All you have to do is be a bizzaro, freak out about useless things, and apparently have a lot of "guts."
The show makes me so upset when i watch it.
Bring back the game shows where you have to have some knowledge or skill.

I hate that show. Why does a game of guessing get so much love and hype?

I know there's lots of DOND haters here, but the UK version is pure TV gold, presented by a legend of the small screen....and today for the first time ever, some one won the top prize! (which is 250,000)
fucking classic stuff.

Bro I am, but I don't know who Howie is! Over here it's presented by t.v's very own throwback Noel Edmunds (n)

i was under the impression that not every contestant gets their show shown. depending on how entertaining they are/how entertaining the results are.
i know in the australian version everyone in the audience has an equal shot of being chosen. but you'd be screened before you get to be in the audience.
I've never seen it, so I'm not under any impression.
