Right fucking ON.

So Ticketmaster's "convenience fee" is $5.50 a ticket. That's $16.50 -- I can buy two used CDs for that.

Anyway, I called the theater for a seating chart because I couldn't quite figure out where Ticketmaster was trying to stick us. Well, I knew where they were trying to stick us -- I didn't know where they were trying to seat us.

Turns out that 1) I can buy tickets directly from the theater (about a mile from my home); 2) There's no service fee if I do; 3) They have tickets in addition to what Ticketmaster has.

Plus the lady faxed me a seating chart, anyway.

Whoo hoo! This is working out. (y)

that's pretty standard...that's why they always say "Tickets available through ticketmaster at the boxoffice or charge by phone...." Good for you though, fuck ticketmaster

Well, the symphony's website said they sold season tickets through their box office, and if you wanted individual tickets, you needed to call Ticketmaster. Phrasing it that way makes it sound like the symphony box office doesn't sell individual tickets. So I was happily surprised when I called for a seating chart and the woman told me I could buy the tickets there, hand pick the seats, and have no service charge.

I think it's pretty unfair when venues arrange to sell their tickets ONLY through Ticketmaster. I mean, that's pretty messed up, and calling it a "convenience" is like a slap in the face.

That seems to work for any show that's not super popular. I buy tickets at small venues all the time, but if you try that for popular concert, MAYBE the first two people in line at the venue will get tickets if the venue is even open when tickets go on sale.

I gotta know, what in the hell do you purchase tickets to watch Crispin Glover do?

did that question even make sense?

Around here, if you want decent tickets to a decent event, you'll be paying a broker...and they are a lot more expensive than ticketmaster. Sucks.

to see him read from his books and screen his movie, What Is It? with a Q&A afterwards.
