that's one thing if it's for identification, like a serial number. that's been done for years on all kinds of animals from dogs to rabbits. but witht he invention of the microchip it's not all that nessary. but anyway I don't have a problem with that. my animals are microchipped too.

and I realize that a hello kitty tat on your pet would be an identifing mark too, but I think it comes from a differnt place when you are picking out a "design" to put on your dog. that's fashion. and I think that's kinda cruel. and pericing your dogs ears? seems dangerous. they could rip that shit out scratching. I;m reading the people are peircing thier dogs septums and shit. I just can't get behind that.

(seriously though shoeing a horse is different too. the hoof is more like our fingernails only way thicker, so they don't have a ton of sensation down there except for the tender "frog" of thier foot which is not where the shoe is nailed into. horseshoes actually do protect the horses foot from stony surfaces and pavement that could damage it.)

yeah there's some photos of the too on the link under the pics. but I woun't call that humane. they peirce the bulls septum because it is uncomfortable for them thus making them easier to control. yeah know if some one attaced a rope to a ring on your nose and pulled it you'd pretty much do what they said too eh?

I once had to cut a fish's head off and the gills kept breathing for an hour afterwards. they are strange possibly demonic creatures and I have serious doubts that they experience pain in the same way we do. I like fish and all but fuck em. any thin g that can brethe for an hour without a body is insane.

of course maybe if they were fuzzier and cuter I'd think differently.

ah sport fishermen don't throw them back because it's "humane". :rolleyes: They throw them back so they can live and continue to breed more fish. it's about conservation of the species.

This is awful stuff. I had a doberman and I never had her ears clipped because people only do that because it supposedly makes them look tougher, it serves no other purpose than cosmetic in otherwords. Her tail was bobbed shortly after she was born, before I got her, but my vet said that people bob certain breeds tails because they are long and slender tails and break easily when they hit them on things. But anyway, my Doberman was so cute with her floppy ears!

tail docking is illegal in australia now for any purpose. with any breed, they are no more likely to break their tail than their leg or something. it makes me so sad to see doggies with tiny lumps where their tails should be trying to wag them :(
