Rebounding: Your Thoughts?

Yet another "omg boy/girl!" thread. Eeeee. This one is interesting though, me thinks. I am not rebounding right now, no. But the other day I hung out with a guy friend that I haven't hung out with much before, and he insisted on paying for the movie and stuff and then we hung out later. Nothing will come of it, it was just that day (he lives in New York), and we didn't even flirt really or anything. It was a nice distraction from the shittiness I've been feeling lately, and it made me wonder about the rebound thing as a whole.

I can see how it might be beneficial as far as a distraction, but also not because you're totally not over the last situation you were in. But if you take it lightly, is it okay? Hmm. Insert rebound stories into the following orifice:

This young woman I was dating last spring broke my heart not once but twice with the whole "I can't do this polyamory bit, I thought I could, but I can't. Goodbye." deal.

So, she had this one friend who was helping her vet me and Heather for her. Like her good friend came over to see if me and Heather were on the up and up or if I was some creepy mind control or neuvaux confidence man or whatever. So the friend interviewed us along with the young woman I was dating and concluded "Naw, they're pretty much on the up n up. A-Okay in my book" and so it seemed like all systems go right, ...until she broke up with me... then claimed she'd made a horrible mistake and unbroke up with me... and then later rebroke up with me again.

Okay, so this is probably not what you had in mind by "rebound" because I was broken up about the way it went down and all, but I had Heather to console me and such, so it wasn't anything I couldn't get over. So, anyway, the young woman who had helped with the interviewing, a month or so later, was all like, 'well hell, if L doesn't wanna mix it up with you, what's say we get together?' and I was almost sort of starting to have reservations, but she's really super awesome, so now she's my girlfriend and the three of us get along SMASHINGly well.

So I'd have'ta say. REBOUND = A resounding YES! Do it!

I don't think I have any rebound stories. I just got super drunk for a few months with my friends. I don't know, I've had my fake boyfriend for so long, I can't remember how it even started. I suppose he might have been a rebound that just kept bounding.

Hrm. That New York boy left me two messages yesterday because he was going to come in and see me at my work. I wasn't expecting that...and he was like "oh I might be back for sundance". Whatever it's probably cause I was raging drunk a while back and horny while on the internet. Still...thank tha lawd for distaction.
