i got this dress a couple weekends back and it looks awesome on me. it's a little black number with big straps and buttons that goes over a shirt. but it's cheap and the plastic zipper always gets stuck at one seam so it gets off the track and when i get it zipped up all the way it comes completely undone and i have to pull it off over my head and then i'm able to fix it but when i'm putting it on it happens AGAIN and this happens 3 more times and finally i say FUCK IT I'M STAYING HOME. who the hell has a party that STARTS at 11 anyway??? i work at 8 am! my body clock can't do that shit! my hair and eyeliner were awesome too! fuck. at least now i can drink at home.

Hey Pauli, I didn't say that it's high quality sewing, just that for 20 bucks it's a nice little number.

It is really cute, but can't you sew the new zipper yourself??

I bought me a dress (http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/6085/nyedressrf7.jpg) for New Years. It was pretty cute, but too tight round the bossom. I fixed a couple of seams and made it fit a bit better, but then it turned out we'd be going to a different kind of party I decided for a different dress at the last minute.

Why are dresses sometimes referred to as "little numbers"?

Someone answer me please or I'll be forced to make a thread about it.

I guess it's a saying. Like calling women broads.

I know it's a saying... I need to know why :(

Well I don't know why they call women broads either.

But uh, I guess "little number" dates back to when people didn't actually wear clothing because it was the depression and cloth was hard to come by. Instead they wore newspapers, which had little numbers printed all over them. It would then be fashioned into a crude dress and people would comment how cute it was. Until it rained, and then their skin just got all black and inky and runny and pretty much no one wanted to touch them anymore.

That's my guess at least.

This reminds me of a Christmas party I was invited to. The sleek, modern invitation said "fashion forward attire". WTF? So I start getting ready at like 9-ish, proceed to change into a billion different outfits for an hour or so and wound up throwing on some sweats, popping open a beer and parking on the sofa the rest of the night.

That is a really cute dress cos. Def fix that zipper! I envy you and your ability to shop at forever 21. I can't find clothes there that 'fit my frame' for lack of a better term. Aren't the sizes there XXS, XS, and S?

it's on a tricky seam, and even though i just got a machine, i haven't sewn in years so i don't want to mess it up.

jenny, the sizes there actually aren't all that bad! i wear a medium in most things there. it's the really, REALLY cheap and dirty stores that seem to have the teensy weensy sizes only. i think it's because the fabric they use is so crappy.

i have a strong urge to go to Forever 21 right about now, the only thing i don't like about forever 21 is that the sleeves can be weird at times, but still its cool(y)

fix that dress yo, its really pretty (y)

They're little numbers because women's sizes start with 0.
