I received the cadillac of blenders for christmas and I wanted to start making breakfast smoothies...anyone have any healthy, easy recipes?

i used to do this every morning but i've gotten lazy lately. i just get a bag of frozen berries - either a medley or whatever i'm feeling that morning (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc.). i'll put that and a banana (you can also get these ripe, peel them, and freeze them for later use) in my blend-and-go cup (so convenient) and then add soy or almond milk, protein powder, flaxseed meal and oil, and maybe some soy yogurt and blend. super easy. sometimes i'll also use a banana, chocolate syrup, and a scoop of peanut butter. it has to be the natural, oily kind though - skippy crap won't be the same. either way, it always gives me tons of energy and tastes pretty decent. it's easy if you have all the ingredients there for you, and doesn't take much time.

i think having heaps of different fruits in a smoothie is wrong, best is banana, banana and mango, mango, rockmelon (cantaloupe) or strawberry.
although i found out recently i don't technically make smoothies cos my smoothies are 50% icecream 20% fruit 25% milk 5% malt and vanilla essence

I bought bananas, strawberries and blueberries last night, cut them up in 1/3 peices and threw them in the freezer. So do you think just those with some vanilla soy milk and flax seed meal should be ok? And because the fruits are frozen, do I need to throw in ice?
I can't believe something as easy as this and I asking this many questions.

I loved those 'organic' Smoothies in Airlie Beach. They may have cost a fiver a pop, I can't remember but I enjoyed watching weird stuff like grass go in there. For DIY try Häagen Cookies & Cream...

You know what would be good to add to that? A spoonful of raw oats. Sounds weird I know but trust me on this one - extra slow-release energy and makes it nice and thick.

the great thing about smoothies is you can pretty much throw anything in there and its DANK. well, not anything, not like old socks and shit.
i like to put raw eggs in mine. eating raw eggs makes me gag, but they are really good for you, and putting them in a smoothie makes it so you cant even taste it.
i dont even have any favorites...i just throw whatever i have laying around in a blender with some ice, some yogurt, some honey, some eggs etc...
usually they are citrus-e. i like them with grapefruit and oranges, bananas, blueberries, raspberries....hmm...any juice thats laying around i'll throw in...lemons are good for you too especially in cold season. hmmmm. smoothies.

I used to add raw eggs to mine before I got into whey protein. The eggs actually add a nice smoothness to smoothies.

egg whites are basically the gold standard of protein. leave out the yolk dudes!

w..w..why do people add protein powder to things? :o
i don't have any fancy smoothie making devices at home so i go here (http://www.fressh.com/fresshjuice.html) for my dose. yeah i know i'll save an equivalent amount of money time effort blahhh blaaahhh, whatever.
my favourite juice is the afternoon alert with apple, orange, pineapple & carrot.
my favourite smoothie is the femme fatale with grapefruit, kiwi, raspberries, cranberry & pineapple.
yuurrrmmmm.

afternoon alert sounds like code for something. i like it
i add protein powder to my drinks to get more protein in muh diet! being vegan and all. i actually usually get plenty, but it's a good source of lean protein and a good way to start the day and all. you don't want to overdo it though. those bodybuilding supplement companies will try to convince you that 3 shakes a day at 50g protein each won't wreck your kidneys...

can you reccommend a good brand of protien mix? I get so overwhelmed in that asile.

spiru-tein is decent but they are usually flavored. i get one that's by Naturade, their Soy-Free Veg. it's not super high-pro, but it's low in sugars and just enough to give my shakes a kick without adding a lot of taste. they have a regular Veg that's got soy too, and that one's good, but i have a lot of soy in my diet so i avoid it where i can.
whey protein is good, but it can leave you wicked gassy. Jay Robb's whey protein is the purest i've seen (aside from organic plain whey, which, from what i've heard, is nasty).

I find it really hard to get a decent protein powder thats not flavoured
most times I just settle for something thats vanilla flavoured because it's atleast on sale

protein powder? nah. use raw eggs!
raw foods are much more easily processed by the body, and accepted into the cells, pushing out wastes which build up over time. thats essentially how raw foods help "detox" the body, and why so many people have cured diseases and cancers with raw foods. their nutrition is much more easily assimilated as well. and more easily digested!!
why go with processed stuff thats hard to assimilate and hard to digest? if you are going for protein, use da raw eggs boyyeeeeeeee!

egg whites are the perfect protein indeed, but you have to be careful with raw eggs. it's risky. I know Eggology sells whites that are pasteurized and salmonella tested.
blecch.
my mind's still not made up on an entirely raw diet.

i think that eggs are okay so long as you buy them farm fresh. same with meats etc.... if they are not handled in a big packaging plant, where there are risks of unsanitary conditions (in a sterilized environment)and contamination through processing...then its a o k. there is a much more serious risk with all processed foods, that are stored on the shelf for longer periods. sterilized environments, like those in packaging plants are wiped of ALL bacteria. and almost all the time, beneficial bacteria destroy pathogenic bacteria- it is how we are able to survive!
probiotics are essential. go raw!!

homemade smoothies are the bomb - here are my suggestions:
fresh or frozen fruit - if you use frozen it will obviously last longer & you won't need to add ice.
i like - mango - banana - honey - soy milk & whey protein powder. buy your protein powder in bulk if you can. you can also throw in bee pollen or flax seed oil for an added boost.

And I thought I was the only person to do this.
